Faster way to create automation points?

I just tried automation and it went reasonably well, but it is somewhat time consuming to have to select four points before being able to make any kind of automation, say boosting volume across a bar that is too quiet. Is there any way to create four automation points in one move?

right click on the envelope and create an automation item for the bar you want, or you can change the point shape to square

Thanks. The envelopes seem to behave differently than four individually created points but I probably just need more practice working with them.

yeah, i didn't really answer your question really, sorry. the two methods i gave are just quicker ways (for me anyway) of boosting volume across a bar.
There may well be ways of creating 4 points at once, specifically
