Mainly I use it to learn songs - there's nothing that comes close with REAPEER's "varispeed".

I import a wave, flac, etc. Then tempo map it so I can section the Verse, Chorus, etc. Then I can use a metronome, and I change the "speed" to learn the licks etc.

Works great.

This is of course an interesting variant of using Reaper,
especially if you want to analyze guitar riffs or parts of a song.

I think the most accurate answer for me is "for up multi-track recording of live instruments and sequenced midi instruments".

Basically I want reaper to act as a multi-track tape recorder with impeccable midi timing whether reaper is master or slave.

Secondarily I want it to be good for editing and arranging and composing.
