Ctrl+V Pastes but deletes everything in that spot

I don't know what I did, but when I cope past an audio track, it deletes everything else on that part of the time line. The time signature changes from 120 to 120 as well, on the top. Its the same time so I don't understand what's going on. I feel like this would be a newbie type of issue, but I've been clicking all over the place and I'm too frustrated to try anything else.

Some of the things I tried was Ctrl+A and Changing Tempo so it all syncs up. I started toggling all the buttons on the top. I restarted the program.

I feel like this is some sorta like video editing this where u move the whole timeline while inserting full footage in between, but I have no idea how to look further into it. I have no clue what its called

Under the options menu, is "trim content behind media items when editing" enabled?

I just tried toggling it, but it had no affect so I took a video to show what's going on, in case my explanation was lacking.

Edit: So I was messing with it some more. If you paste on a track it splits it and pastes in between the split. Also, if deleted the pieces that were split come back together

Update, on some other things I found that reaper is doing. IDK what this mode is that I'm in, but it seems very helpful - just kinda not letting me work ATM. Kinda thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling 'cause I'm completely lost at this point.
