Default FPGA + VHDL + pi

Hi, not a programmer my self , just curious how things work and how DSP world is evolving.

At the moment I don't see the point of external DSP devices, they just seem an expensive additional headache to deal with. However, the SOUL language project from Roli is interesting, because it could benefit CPU (and maybe GPU) based audio programming too by making it simpler and safer :

External devices Like UAD, Waves, Antelope are creating, in my opinion are a great way of programming for dedicated processors. In simple words, we get the job done without making a lot of internal CPU usage. I´ve been mixing for a few years now and since i got the UAD it was a game changer, made me more ITB mixer.
I see what you mean and i´ll watch the video.

As I said , i am just a curious who likes to know the basic behind the scenes of the tools we use daily

A lot of RME stuff is FGPA including total mix DSP FYI. I do a lot of non-audio stuff with PI but not really interested in it's audio though Reaper will run on it now.
