reset nightmare with reaper sequencer

it's driving me crazy ! I have a vsti synth on a track and I like to tweak its parameters (filers, envelopes, etc) with a midi controller as the sequencer is running. It works fine, and when I'm satisfied with the sound, I stop the sequencer and play from the start again but my beautiful sound is gone because when I stop or rewind, the vsti parameters I edited with my midi controller are reset to zero by reaper. How can I stop reaper from doing this please ?
I've tried every automation mode, it doesn't change anything. In the preferences, I've also made sure that "reset on play" and "reset on stop/stopped seek" are unchecked. So why does reaper send bloody reset messages to my vsti ?
I just want reaper to leave the parameters I edited with my midi controller exactly as they are, no matter what I do with the sequencer

In preferences somewhere...not at comp....is a text field where you can describe the controllers you don't want reset. Unless my old timers is getting me:-)

I'd look in the editor to make sure no patch change are being sent.

Have you found a solution? reset cc unchecked in preferences doesn't work for me either...
