Control surfaces: X-Touch or Icon M+

I've just recently gotten back to tracking/mixing w/ Reaper and was lucky enough to have an old BCF2000 lying around. Now that I've used it for a couple of weeks I see a lot of value in LCD scribble strips, a transport dial and more buttons (at least enough for Mute/Solo/Select on each track).

B&H now has the M+ at $250... add the display and it's just over $400, same price range as the X-Touch. Has anyone spent time with both these units and picked one over other? If so, why?

Last time I checked the M+ and the display DO NOT line up, people are complaining about the build quality, etc. You might want to do some research into those two topics, maybe things have improved.

Hi Geoff, thanks and I did read through your thread. I'll be keeping an eye on it, but since I'm just getting back into home tracking/mixing after a long time I didn't really think of anything I had to contribute. Good luck with it, though; looks like a worthwhile project.
