Turned them a bit into real keys, with an orange border for the selected ones.

Even better, nice change.

the "keycolor" is a brilliant idea...simple and obvious, and yet i have neither seen it, nor thought of it before...i like!

Unox,
I *really* like your theme; I've been using the alpha version for a while. Somehow, it's a look that I like. -)
One point about the midi notes colored as the piano keys: for me, the dark notes against the dark 'track' behind them begins to be difficult to see. The text of the note ("65 Eflat6" ) is easy to see, but the midi note rectangle begins to fade into the dark track containing it. It may make it hard to work with over time.
Of course, this is one person's opinion; your mileage (and younger eyes) may vary. -) I don't have a suggestion for a solution, sorry.
Thanks for your hard work on this!

Channelcolor..
Ok.
Those who work on a regular basis with the channelcolors may experience an increase in their cognitive brainfunctions.
I found an easy way to make it really obvious to see in just one eyegulp which note is on which channel.
Hint: top row = MSB, green = 1.
(and added some brightness to the dark BG)

It took me a couple seconds to figure out what you were doing here, and at first (to be honest), I was like 'gawdy'. Then I clued into the patterns. This is brilliant. This is an example of very clever UI design.
It's a great idea. It's a little Xmas-y for my tastes, but I love it. It would be great for me.

Awesome idea, but wouldn't it be better if the black keys were a bit brighter? For example I liked those with the bevel more than these flatter ones. Or, if you're gonna stick to without bevel - please add a grayish frame around both white and black keys when not selected! (Orange works when selected.)

Thanks for the compliment, it's only 4bits binary code. Why don't the devs just print the midichannel right behind the note?
..or in the right-bottom of the midi'editor, together with start/end/length/offset? Midi in Reaper is still growing I guess..

Background has been made lighter, I've tried grey, but since the BG is also grey it just makes the item smaller.
The map with the bevel/blendshadow is still around, I'll include it.

Still looking dark, a bit too "empty". Maybe bump up the lightness, but not too much - so it's still black, but a grayer shade of black! Wouldn't feel like a hole in the monitor

Yeah, you're right. (Don't forget all the white you're seeing while watching the forum...)
Added '10' brightness:

when you resize a track vertically, there is a red area under the TCP,
can you fix that and upload a fix ?
and another issue - i can't see a difference between unselected and selected track
except the font colour maybe.

The red is gone, unselected/selected is next. Have to figure something out on that one, just a white line around the track doesn't cut it.
...almost there...

yeah, i'm full-on loving the key color for notes idea. i'd maybe make the selection color something that stands out a bit more, perhaps the green or red led color? maybe even just a lighter orange?
as-is, it looks nice, but i'd prefer it to be a little easier to see the selection at a glance.
