Option to disable reapeaks building in the Media Explorer
At the moment REAPER is building peak-files every time a user listens to media in the Media Explorer.
The peak files are created in the relative peaks-Folder or a alternate path. I'd love to see a option in the settings to disable the peak file creation in the Media Explorer when auditioning media.
We are teaching REAPER at school (and we love it!). We've provided royalty free a sound library at a network location in our school network and it integrates very well with REAPER. Unfortunately, if users with admin rights browse the sounds every time a peaks folder is created on the school server. Over time, this will bloat things unnecessarily.
I think the community would benefit greatly when able to granulate the peak file options more precisely (e.g. disabling peak files in the Media Explorer). I can see why the files are created (display of the waveform in the explorer), but there might be a solution in caching it in the RAM.
Kind regards
