Linux and Presonus Firepod
I'm trying to get my Presonus Firepod working on my Linux box. Here are the stats:
Dell Inspiron 660s Intel Pentium G630 @2.70GHz 4GB RAM Ubuntu Studio 18.10 I added a Vantec PCIe firewire card. Plugged in the Firepod and the blue light came on (only when using Port 2 on the Firepod). I tried following these instructions: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=713695 I fired up Jack, and here are the errors I get: Code:

What command did you fire up jack with? Also, if you just run qjackctrl with no options, do you see your Firepod as a choice on the setup page for interface? I'm no Linux expert, but on my machine I see hw:M2496,0 which is the first of my two M-Audio 2496 cards.
The output you posted shows Connecting to PulseAudio which makes me think it's hooking up to your motherboard audio, but again I'm no Linux expert. |

After installing FFADO and adjusting my Jack settings, all is well. The Firepod works perfectly. This little Dell is turning into a decent system for tracking at our rehearsal space.

Glad you got it working and also glad to know that the Firepod is an interface that is now known to work with REAPER for Linux. My local GC had a used eight channel Firepod for a ridiculously low price about a month ago, but it's gone now.

I'm recording at 24/48, and haven't had a hiccup yet.

I record 24/44 and am used to no more than 2.9/5.8ms latency in REAPER for Linux. If I don't use any bridged VST/VSTi plugins, I can run reliably at 1.4/2.9ms. |
