Default How do I set the MIDI input channel for a VST instrument?

Hello,

This seems such a simple task but I can't find a solution on here or across the internet! How do I set the midi input channel for a VST instrument when the instrument doesn't have the option? Eg: Let's say I set up a chain of several instances of ReaSynth on one track. I want the first to only play from midi ch 1, the 2nd ReaSynth instance to only play from midi ch 2 etc.

Thanks

ReaSynth is very basic, i don't think it has the option to select a MIDI channel.
You could put it on a different track and filter the receive channel or if you need them all on the same track you could maybe use Darkstar's Bus Station plugin and have the ReaSynth instances on different MIDI buses.

Yep. Give each instance a separate track and use the Input Selector to set to midi and your preferred channel.

Ok thanks both. That's obviously the more conventional way to do. I can't even remember now why I needed/wanted to set midi channel within one track. Anyway, thanks all the same.

Hi Keaton
On another thread of yours you're having difficulty with VSTi which is multichannel. Reasynth is not multichannel so each instance on a new track.
Kontakt is multichannel so once you set up routing you can have one instance sending outputs to multiple tracks. Very useful.
Once you get it you really get it!
