Extend the routing capabilities
Initially I just wanted to send MIDI out to 2 devices; a Pro One that is hooked up to a MIDI to CV box, and also wanted to send the same note information also to a pitch shift effect on the Eventide again through MIDI.
Currently the easiest way is to have an Eventide MIDI track and double the take information from the Pro One track to the Eventide. But much easier, if we could select multiple MIDI outputs from the routing, that would be insanely useful, as well as multiple inputs... Wonder how hard that could be ?!
In fact, the routing panel blends every thingamajig while I just either want to do audio, or MIDI... I'm pretty sure that panel hasn't been updated in the last 5 years.
Oookayy enough complaining, cheers and good luck!

In fact Reaper's routing capabilities are huge.
Regarding audio you can route streams using up to 64 channels per track and hence connect the receives and sends of any plugin to wherever you want.
Regarding Midi you can use the 16 standard Midi channels enhanced by the Reaper feature of 16 Midi Buses they live in (i.e. 256 Midi channels), and again this allows for connecting the the Midi Ins and Outs of any plugin to wherever you want.

yes mschnell, but jmorel33 is talking here about hardware MIDI OUTs.

You can create an additional track and route all the midi to the additional track and then you have two tracks with the same midi which can both send to a different hardware device.
This way you don't need to have two copies of the midi take.
But yes - would be nice to have multiple hardware outs from a single track.

Do you mean like a parent / child type of arrangement ?
It's also pretty clear when you hit the `add new receive`, the thing mixes up audio and MIDI all together which makes `Add receive from all tracks` pretty hilarious and/or painful, in some cases.
mschnell, thanks for your input. Very true, I am mostly hardware, except I'm mixing in the box.

There are several options, as well. Using the Tracks' Midi Out, adding ReaInsert instances, ...

I meant more along the lines of
Track A - has midi item.
Create send from A to Track B (you can specify the send to be midi only)
This means track A and B both have identical midi.
You can then create a different midi hardware output on each of Track A and B.
