Default [SOLVED - no bug] Virtual MIDI Keyboard - no 3 octaves (e.g. C3, C4, C5) at once?

Hi all,

I have been evaluating Reaper for about 6 days now and I'm highly impressed how powerful and flexible it is.

Since I travel a lot, I often use the Virtual MIDI Keyboard (shortcut ALT+B on Windows) instead of a proper MIDI keyboard or MIDI controller.

Today, when playing around with the Virtual MIDI Keyboard I was trying to play the notes C3, C4, and C5 at once using the buttons 'Z', 'Q', and 'I' (UK keyboard layout). To my surprise, Reaper does not register the C5 note ('I' key) when playing all three simultaneously. I can either play C3+C5 at once or C3+C4 or C4+C5.

Also, other combinations don't work:

C3, C4, B4
C3, C4, F4
and potentially some others.

HOWEVER, other note combinations work:

C3, C4, A4#
C3, C4, G4#
C3, C4, F4#
and others

My question is, am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

My system:
Dell 9560, Win10 incl. all recent updates, UK keyboard

Regards,
J

This is up to your keyboard, not Reaper... Keyboards that have multi-key rollover (read: accept lots of button mashing for gamers) usually don't have problems with this, but in majority of regular keyboards you won't be able to press certain key combinations with more than two letters, depending on how the keyscanning matrix is designed...

For instance, what you mention is entirely possible on my keyboard (Coolermaster Octane).

I didn't know that, thank you.

I have changed this thread to [SOLVED - no bug]
