Bravo sir! Really enjoyed that.

I'd be interested to know your signal path, mic used and setup. Beautiful tone.

Lovely as always Tim! In a world of chaos, so nice to have some things always consistent and reaching a plateau of perfection!

Love the video! The black background. Nice!

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Mark. Not there yet. I'm working on it.

Thanks! I'm trying to learn a little more about the picture side of things and this was an experiment.

Beautifully played. Love the black on black look, too. Interesting dissolve in the video at around 1:27. Did you cut something out of the performance?

Your skills are inspiring.

Thank you, FS. Re the vid at 1:27... no, I didn't cut anything - I was just experimenting in a clumsy way with picture editing, heh.

Thanks, trevlyns. 1978 Clarke guitar, small acoustically treated room with a high ceiling, Schoeps mk41 mikes in ORTF a couple feet away, Great River MP2H pre. I was playing without fingernails, which I rarely do when I record but I thought this piece suited the subtle sound that gets.

Heh heh, yeah, before I had to quit playing, I played a lot with my fingers too, and it was difficult to keep my finger nails long enough.

So how do you manage with & without finger nails?

Thanks, Tod. About playing with and without nails, I use artificial nails that are held on with a temporary adhesive. Takes about a minute to put them on and another to take them off when I'm done playing. I fabricate my own to fit my fingertips just right. Rico Stover came up with this idea a number of years ago and sells a product called Riconails, which is what I started with re temporary nails: http://www.ricoguitarnails.com/
I love the sound and feel of no-nail technique but sometimes you just need to be louder.

Aah thanks, I kind of figured that, there were a few folks doing that way back in the 80s, at least I was told that, I never tried it.

I did try to keep mine at a certain length so I could use the finger part when I wanted, although it was difficult to be consistent.

Heh heh, I was always a little paranoid with the short nails on my left hand and the long ones on my right, I got kidded some.

EDIT: I was going to ask if you ever use your index finger nail for picking. I did that a lot.
