So im experimenting with moving over to mac, and since updating my native instruments plugins I'm having some irritating crashes. I thought i might have fixed it, i wasn't (and still aren't) super familiar with how OS X structures things...when i first got this macbook i immediately put a bootcamp partition on it (works fine) and i installed a few things on the mac side with a view to eventually moving over.

That first initial mac install got a little messy with other day to day stuff so i made a strictly audio user profile, not realising that a lot of what was installed on the original profile still shows up on the new one.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling as much as i could find, and i believe that reaper was searching other file locations for plugins on the original user profile as well as the audio one. I removed those locations, making sure it was only looking in locations on the audio profile, cleared the cache and rescanned and it seemed to come good, However i just tried installing a new plugin (HY-SEQ, a free step sequencer that works fine in windows), and i am back to it crashing every time i load an instrument. Ive put that new crash report below:

Seems Fabfilter Pro Q plugin is the culprit for Reaper crash.

- Are you sure you have updated that plugin to the latest version ?
- Are you sure you have authorized that plugin correctly ?

- I see you are running OSX 10.10.1
Any reason why not have updated to latest ? (OSX 10.10.5).
I would recommend you do that.
After this OSX update, run "Disk Utility"
This is a program inside folder Applications > Utility
In Disk Utility, check "repair diskpermissions" and let it do its thing for a few
minutes.

Oh pro-q? thats interesting!!!

Yes as far as i am aware (although now i will double check) it is fully authorised and up to date (IIRC they moved on to pro-q 2 which i cant afford and this is the latest version of pro-q 1).

I have not updated the OS yet as i was nervous about it messing up my bootcamp partition, my edirol UA-25 does not have supported drivers for the newer versions and there seems to be another new version on its way soon from what i have read.

I will do some more investigating, thank you so much for your advice, i never thought pro-q would be causing this, the fabfilter stuff is usually so problem free.

Thanks again!

I use all Fabfilter plugins and love them. Never got any issues with them BUT I run Sierra.

I had issues with some other plugins, and to find which one was wrong, a load my session without FX and reload them one by one.

After some further reading i might have to either use something else besides pro-q or keep using windows. Upgrading to sierra looks problematic as my sound card definitely isnt supported, and i know everything works with win 7. It sucks a bit, there are certain aspects of working in mac that i think are far smoother, even some plugins work better...drumatic 4 for example....loading sounds is quite laggy in win but no issues on mac... but so far ive had far fewer problems using windows overall. I dont have any issues with Pro-L or Pro-MB on mac..i suspect maybe because Pro-L is an older product?

Maybe it's the reason. and maybe you could try something else.

Few weeks ago, when I left Logic for Reaper, I had issues with Breverb 2 and QL Space. Each time I loaded those 2 plugins Reaper crashed.

When I installed the plugins, I install all versions, VST, AU & AAX.

Because I use AU most of the time, I delete the VST version, and now everything's all right.

Then If you have both version install in your "Audio - Plugins" folder, try to remove the VST version, and load the AU Pro-Q ?

No more idea :-(
