Default Corrupted offline take.

I rendered a few tracks (alla bounce down ) to a track in Reaper.

Later I deleted some desk top files and inadvertently deleted this file which was also put on desk top as well as on a spare track in my sequence.

During my next session I loaded the sequence and got the warning message about an offline track missing.
Not being sure what it was I clicked ignore and carried on and then later saved the project.

Realising my mistake on the session after, I retrieved the file from the bin and dropped it onto the “missing take” track of the sequence where it showed up fine.

But on play back the timing is now skew whiff. After 30 seconds or so the audio no longer lines up either way in the sequence.

What did I do wrong to corrupt the data ? Can I retrieve and fix it ?

what makes you think the file is corrupted?
perhaps it's just playing back at the wrong speed - dbl click on the item & check if it's playback rate is 1.00000

if you are saying the empty container is still on the track, you might be better advised to go into item properties and select your source file there.

Thanks for replies....Okay yes, maybe corrupted is the wrong word ....not sure what to call it , but I deleted the empty container not realising until too late.

I cannot tell if the item is playing back 1.1 on it’s own ...there’s lots of silence breaks in the take and I can only tell when actually in the sequence. But that’s where the problem is, for some reason it’s not aligning and goes out of sync. Does the take item need the original empty container to play correctly ? I’m only guessing here.

why can't you look in item properties?

No, not necessarily, but it helps in situations like this.

It sounds to me like you may have dragged a file (the missing item) into the project and Reaper has maybe automatically adjusted the tempo of that item.
Either that or it is not starting in the right place (but that would make it out of sync all the way through, not over time, as you describe)

and what format is the item?
if you recorded as broadcast wave it might be worth trying item processing / "move item to source preferred position"

Thanks for your help and time, I appreciate it.

What should I be looking for in item properties ?

I’ll look into “move item to source position “

If all else fails I have a back up of the sequence before I rendered tracks down (bounce) which will take time to redo but I can eventually duplicate the item that’s not working correctly.

I’ve learned to have several back ups of the Master sequence and it’s back ups ! (And also 1-2 onto separate drives)
