Reaper tutorials with Movavi
Hello there.
I am just having a little issue while trying to create some Reaper screen capture tuts for students.
I am using Movavi for this, (well trying).
I currently have an external audio interface (digidesign 003 interface) and that is the only way I have by now to record my voice.
The thing is that it seems I am missing something on the audio configurations side of things.
Sometimes the audio on the resulted video is doubled.
Sometimes only on the left side.
On the headphones I hear my self double
I get nothing to configure latency in Movavi or to choose the input of my 003.
I use Windows 7 and I am configuring the audio with the "Playback devices and Recording Devices".
It's been a mess.
I just need to recod my voice while using my headphones, of course I need audio from Reaper to be recorded too (that I know how to do it) at the same volume as the mic (audio from Reaper is recorded a lot lower than the mic) and that is it.
Thanks a lot, I woud appreciate any feed back.
PS: I am a fan of kenny Gioia tuts, that quality I am chasing.

Did you try to decrease playback level/uncheck monitoring for the mic?

Hi amoretam, I use Movavi too, and I do have the paid version. If you're using the demo version I'm not sure what the limitations are.
Have you figured out how to get your mic signal into Movavi. Here's a screenshot of where it's at, just click on the mic.
Also, in Preferences you can select whether to record in mono or stereo. To get there, select Capture>Preferences>Audio, you can also select sampleing rate.
I seldom record audio in Movavi, I always record dialog or what ever in Reaper after I've got the video setup the way I want it. However, I have recorded audio a few times just to get the cues lined up right, but I'm not sure exactly how I did that. I just experimented a little.
I'm sure there's a way to record in Reaper and Movavi at the same time. Check out the setting I listed and let me know how your getting along.

thanks a lot.
I have been experimenting, lots of results. Recentrly I discovered the rec in mono option. Now I have centered audio.
but, ... results are too unpredictable. now I am getting distortion. And I hear that after recording my whole tutorial. That is very Fack up.
.
I wish this thing woudl be easier, ..
I have [paid version
Thanks

Yeah, I didn't find their audio very good either. Heh heh, yeah it's Fack up.
That's why I suggest that you record your audio in Reaper at the same time you create the video. Then use the video audio track to line up your recorded Reaper track.
I guess I should ask, what are you doing with the final video, have you got a video editor? If so, then you can import your Reaper audio into your video editor, and line it up with the video according to the audio on the video.
Also as another way to go, it's a little difficult to get started using Reaper as a video editor, but once you learn it, it's quite easy to use.
The thing is amoretam, there is a way to do what you want to do and make it good quality. There's just a little learning curve to it.
I'll be glad to help you all I can, and there are others in Reaper that know a lot more about this then I do.
So keep experimenting and keep asking.

on windows?
You might like to try FastStone Capture... it's for me a MUST have tool anyway... quite cheap too ...20 bucks
It has a video capture ability that can include all the audio... or not and is really easy to use...
then when the capture is done and saved, you can load it into something else and deal with over dub as well or whatever... just like any video.
http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm
and, you can also use FastStone to capture and save all kinds of screen shots, which can be inserted into your video... and you can use it's Draw area to add to those all kinds of arrows, circles, text notes, etc.

Yes, I would like to record audio with reaper and then edit the video in Reaper too.
Use movavi for screen capture.
I only wonder how is the audio going top behave, if I open say, VLC or another DAW.
Anyways, ...
Thanks a lot man, I will be coming soon after I try recording audio directly in Reaper
PS: I would love to know how is Kenny Gioia doing the realtime zooming feaure he uses to focus attention on certain parts. !

Hey my friend, I checked it out but it only saves WMV (Windows Media Video) format, Movavi saves mp4s which I've found to be the most compatible with other software.

What I do is set up a Project folder for each project. In that folder I've got sub-folders for Audio, Raw Video, Reaper Video Render, and Handbrake. My Reaper RPP project files are saved directly in the Project folder itself.
Audio: You set this up in Reaper's "Project Settings". You can find that in toolbar just above the Track Control Panel (TCP).
Raw Video: These are the mp4 files created by Movavi, as soon as I'm done recording and saving the video in Movavi, I move/drag the files I created over to the Raw Video subfolder.
Reaper Video Render: This is the folder I render the video from reaper to.
Handbrake: After I've rendered the video in reaper, I then load it into Handbrake to make the final processed video for YouTube. Handbrake is a free software and works good for this. You'll have to google this.
Here's a picture of my typical "Render to File" window.
There are some tutorial videos made by Jon that covers some of the ways you can edit the video in Reaper.

I'm not sure what you're asking, zooming in close in Reaper is simple but I think you're talking about something else.
