Default MIDI Velocity Curver (JS FX)

I have stripped down and tarted up an earlier JS FX, to come up with a MIDI Velocity Curver:

Quote:
Features:
-- compresses / expands MIDI vote velocities,
for notes in the selected range,
on all MIDI channels or one selected channel,
-- optionally, transposes all notes up to +/- 4 octaves
-- optionally, sets the MIDI Output channel for all notes and CC messages

Controls:
-- drag the nodes on the velocity grid,
-- drag the input Channel and Filter range values up/down,
-- drag the output Channel and Transpose values up/down,
-- the transpose function can also be changed by MIDI CC messages (#21 and #22)

Display:
-- the last 8 notes in a scrolling list, with received and sent velocity
(-- means no change)
-- the velocity curve with 6 moveable nodes,
-- display the most recent 10 notes on the grid,
-- auto-switch back to node values after a few seconds inactivity
Version c01:
-- Output channel changer added
-- Transpose fixed
-- CC messages passed through (with optional channel change)
Version c02:
-- Transpose fixed (again)!

Aaah I see.... That's what I was thinking but I'm soooooo limited in the midi world my mind just grinds to a halt! Lol I see so many incredible midi tools out there most I don't need at the moment, some like this one could be very beneficial so then I have to put on my learning hat and see who can point me in the right direction...

So my next job would be to find a note filter and try to link it up ur come to it if I'm hearing you right, yeah?

JS Midi Note Filter ??

Use it all the time to split out GM programmed drum tracks to individual tracks.

DS thanks as always... small thought ... wish you'd keep your names so they all begin with DS

makes it easier and consistent to find your fx

Looks sweet with the spartan style gui. More and more as I get older I am enjoying things that are less busy in general, especially visual things.

And I like that it logs both incoming and outgoing velocities along with the same on the curve points, which should make it easier to dial in velocities.

Hi,
Thank you very much Darkstar! And thank you for not making it only available thru reapack. Running xp here, and reapack is 7 and up.
Just wondering, what happened with the midi buss router, or did I miss it?

But then in the MCP they would all be named "DS_MIDI_"

And I just use the Filter in the FX Browser

You mean this one?

https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=166544

It's on hold (I would like to be able to "compile" JS FX into binaries).

Jeffos did a JS FX MIDI Bus Router, but I cannot find a link.

This is the perfect midi velocity tool for me.

Unfortunately it is not working here. The second row always shows '--' regardless of what I play, and I can move the nodes all over the place, and velocities to not change. I am seeing the little gold diamonds on the diagonal when I hit notes.

Any thoughts what I might be doing wrong? I have it as the first FX in a chain, with Kontakt directly after. Kontakt plays fine, but the velocity nodes don't change anything....

octave and note range work fine.

edit: I also don't see the red numbers next to the nodes....

Ahhh. After compiling, note range shows lowest and highest notes, but is actually only affecting ONE note. I wiggled the value for top note and now it shows 128 notes.

Buglet found in initialising the note filter range - new version (b03) is in the first post.

NB Transpose should work for all notes; the ones in the filtered range are those affected by the velocity curve.

This is a really useful & intuitive way to work with the velocity curve. My Axiom keyboard velocity isn't good with super light touch so this allows me to stretch it down a little for more subtle work.

I love these UIs, it's like a heads up display on a jet aircraft from the 80s

this midi compressor plugin looks great! I haven't tried it yet but one thing I've always wanted in a plugin like this is a "learn" function. like you click on a button and play soft than loud and the the soft would calibrated 1 or what ever you want and same with the loud notes. That is the extremes would be set by playing and the dynamics expanded to or compressed to whatever range is set. This would take the guess work out of setting it to your exact playing velocities. Anyway, thanks for the awesome midi compressor Darkstar. looks like great work I'll try it tonight.
