Access Virus Conundrum

I am baffled.

If I tweak a patch on my Virus Classic and press play, the patch resets.
And, heaven forbid I try using the transpose buttons.
If I do that and press play the Virus transposes so low I have to press up button twice to even see the -2 indicator light.

Does anyone know how I can stop this.

Reaper 64 on OS X Mavericks, using a Novation Ultranova as my MIDI controller and audio interface, with the Virus hooked up to my mac via an iConnectivity Mio MIDI to USB thingy.

Preferences > MIDI Devices > Uncheck: Reset CC.
