Italian has evolved from Latin and because of that is very similar to Spanish. The roots of many words are in fact almost identical. I can understand a few things in Spanish without having ever taken a single class.

Ya, but in french download is telecharger, and in spanish it would usually be descargar, and these are not like scarica. That's why I would have never guessed it was italian. Like you said, a lot of words are very similar to at least french or english or spanish, if not all 3. Same for portuguese, especially the written form, but I don't know any portuguese, really.

Here's my idea about the tracks, don't take it personal
1. I found this one a bit dark, but overall it was the best mix for me. I liked the delays on the vox very much
2. Too much reverb on the vox, drums not very balanced?
3. My track: my vox are too quiet, and I'm missing energy in the guitarparts. At home everything sounds pretty ok, but my track fell apart in another studio... Doing some research for room acoustics... Are there other some other tips?
4. I just didn't like the megaphone voice, that's all, it's a taste thing I guess
5. Vox too much in the back, overall mix a bit dark
6. The intro of this track was very nice, also here a lot of reverb on the bvox and the snare
7. This one seemed to have clipping somewhere (I'm just reading my quick notes), it might have been on purpose, but I didn't like it (my thing I guess)
8. I renormalized this track to -14lufs, cause it was too loud... I found the vox too high and a bit screamy or so

I had voted for mix number 8 (martinmadero), 6 (Bass6) and 4 (REAmix).

To be honest, the only mix I quite enjoyed was martinmadero's. It was the only mix that when the chorus came in, I could feel the guitars. In the other mixes, when the guitars had to play, the mix started to fall apart.

Bass6's mix was my second choice because it was the one with the coolest kick and bass feeling. It could have easily be played in a disco in my opinion.

Mix number 4 was good in general and much better than the other ones. But since the guitars and the kick were better in the other 2 entries, it got the 3rd place.

Congratulations martinmadero!

My number one is Mix 4. Overall great mix. Number two is Mix 8. Here the drums are too loud and the Vox too quiet in the verses. Besides, I feel the Vox in the chorus is quieter than in the verse. The chorus also seems squashed (overcompressed). My 3rd place is Mix 3. Here is the Vox too quiet. The guitars in the chorus are also too quiet so the chorus is very empty. The Hi-Hat is too loud for me. The backvox are too loud in one place. Again, the chorus is too quiet compared to the other parts.

It was fun to mix a completely unfamiliar genre!

Congrats Martin and everyone else.

I found the 2 biggest things that lost points for peoples' mixes for me, was too much reverb, and the vox being too far back in the mix, or not loud enough.

For me, the vox is the main thing in the song, and it really needs to be center stage.

I think I voted for ID -01 first, because I thought it was overall the best. For me, that was an easy decision. The next one I voted for, I forget exactly which one it was, I think I voted martin madero's for third. That was one of the entries that exceed the LUFS requirement, and I also found that the vocals had too much high end sibilance which was very uncomfortable for me on my setup, and the vocals were too deep in the mix, and for how I judge it, that's the main thing.

For me, you want everything clear and distinct, and first and foremost the vocals up front and clear, and solid, without pumping or raising and lowering in volume. You also want the reverb and everything to sound great on them, because that's the main focus everyone will be listening to.

My votes were 8,4,1 or was it 8,1,4? Late descision.

1: Liked the echo, but it was used too much.Too wet.
2: too wet.didn't liked the cymbals.
3: too wet. vox too low. didn't liked the drums.
4: liked the phone vox except for the first appearance. didn't like the kick.
5: too wet. unclear mix. didn't like the bg vocals.
6: too wet. liked the start, the break and the end. Didn'tlike the cymbals, vox echo.
7: Vox too low. unclear mix. Didn't like the snare in the refrain.
8: Best balance. Lack of things to complain about.
