1.37 video
Just to let you know.
I'm using Pentium 4 1.4GHz , 1GB RAM, 40GB internal disc, 100GB USB disc. All video files are on USB drive. It works very well with Ulead VideoStudio 10+ NLE.
Here’s what I found when testing new video capabilities:
1. 1.6GB AVI/DV (SD, PAL, 720x576, 4:3) file loaded through Insert/Media – all OK,
- Start – video plays OK
- Pause – Reaper hungs (taking over 30% CPU in task manager)
- Closing Video Window crushes Reaper
2. same file as 1. plus 24MB MPEG2 (SD) loaded in second track - load OK
- Start – both videos play in the same window, one over another (why, what for?)
- Stop - Reaper hungs same as in 1.
- Closing Video Window crushes Reaper
3. 68 MB MPEG2 (HD, PAL, 1440x1080, 16:9) – load OK
- Start – video starts playing, after 3 sec. Transport Counter start flashing red, audio mutes, choppy video plays till the end (18 sec), CPU utilization over 80%
- Pause during playback freezes video frame OK
- Start re-starts video correctly
- Jump to Beginning does not set video to the first frame (leaves same frame as when paused)
- Jump to End does not set video to the last frame (black Video Window)
- Setting cursor to arbitrary point on track brings correct frame into Video Window
- When video is paused/stopped Performance Tab reports CPU Usage 40% , Task Manager reports Reaper is using 1-2% at the same time,
I’m positively surprised Reaper can handle High Definition video very well at this stage.
I hope dev team will slowly clean up video part plus add one frame forward/backward capability.
