I've tested the 64-bit iso and got the same error - strange, 'cause it was working for me before, and it also works for many other people. I'll upload the fixed iso shortly.

64-bit iso fixed.
64-bit iso is fixed. Download from http://www.remix-os.org/downloads.html
You can get "stdin: error 0" when booting, but system starts normally.

Hi
While trying to test the 32bits version with virtualbox, all I got is this message just after the starup menu:
EDD: Error 0c00 reading sector 633161
Invalid or corrupt kernel image.
and that's about it...

I'll check the 32-bit iso also, but there could be many reasons of the error you got: wrong Vbox setup or the iso file was corrupted while downloading.
Did you download from direct link or torrent?

Well, vbox setup should be ok (running several other OS including windows XP, ubuntu, puppy linux and freenas)
I've downloaded it from direct link.
And re-downloaded it when stumbled on the error but it just gave the same...

The problem may happen 'cause Vbox setup doesn't support pae kernel.
I've downloaded and checked both iso files - they work properly from usb-flash. Sorry, but i can't support virtual machines installations. If you want to try the system, you can boot it from USB-flash and also install on one.

mmhmm, odd.
Vbox does have a PAE option (works with other linux distrib requiering PAE).
Doesn't work in VMWare Fusion either, too bad.

Hosting problems
Dear friends,
Can you recommend me good and cheap hosting service for my website where I can upload large files for downloading - or just a good service to host these files.
I used http://erahost.ru/, and after downloading 2 files at 1.2 GB, my account was blocked. I wrote to tech support and they sent me a quote from the rules where it says:
"... It is forbidden to spread large files for downloading in the public domain (large files broken into a multivolume archive, do not solve the problem.)
Do not use the hosting as a platform for active Filesharing for a large number of clients.
Where to stay open links to download from the server is considered a violation. "

Remixer, I've been using UnoEuro for all my hosting for close to ten years. Never ran into any issues and they don't have bandwidth limitations. Not sure they are cheap enough for the space you need though.

Dear friends,
It needs some money to transfer Remix_OS web-site to a new good hosting with no problems with downloading big iso files.
I've already got 10$ donation (thanks a lot to loz56) and still need 25$ more.
If you use and like Remix_OS and want it to be available for other good people, please, feel free to donate some amount of money at http://www.remix-os.org/

waveterminal 192x
Hello folks
tried remix_os, installed successfully, but can't have any sound...
My sound card is (old but powerful) waveterminal 192x. Is there any alsa driver or any solution? Do I have to install windows sound-card drivers through wine?
Thank you

unable to find a medium containing a live file system
Thanks for the 64 bit direct!
I downloaded it, burnt the disc, got the above error message.
Here's the fix: Get into your BIOS and change hard disc type from
IDE to ACHI. Not being a Tech I don't know why but it works!

Grabbed it, burned it with Power ISO, no go. Burnt it with ImgBurn, and away we go.
Still have to turn up the mixer controls for the Delta66 once loaded, but after that sound is fine. I will be running it all day tomorrow to see how she works.
Not sure about changing the HDD settings in the bios, all I have ever had to do was make sure that the CD/DVD drive is first in the boot up list...
Thanks again for all your hard work Remixer!

OK, I quit reading about half way through this thread.
What is the deal on VST's running on this Linux distro? Yes or no?

Hi remixer.
I really want to give a try and work with this.
I tried once, some weeks ago, through a live dvd, but i couldn't get my usb interface to work |(m-audio fast track pro).
Have you heard anyone else working with this?
I know almost nothing about linux, so any tips would be nice.

In 64-bit release you have to start and stop jack (Root JACK Ctl) before starting Reaper

No response....
So, no one knows the current state of using "all" VST's within Linux? Isn't it super limited?
I heard it was a PITA, but would like to hear from someone who has actual experience in this department.

Well, I have around 630 VST's and VSTi's in my collection and only about 3-5 of those have any issues and those issues are things like misaligned menus or slow graphics, but no issues with the sound. The rest work beautifully.
So, yeah, it works pretty well with Windows VSTs in Linux

Excellent! Thanks for the info.
Do you mind me asking, if you know off the top of your head, which VST's don't play well with Reaper?

Mostly VSTs made with SynthEdit. The one's that have very animated interfaces are quite slow, but for most you can just switch UI view (if the author gave the parameters proper names, otherwise it's a bit of a mess).
