Default OverTone DSP demos not working

I wanted to check out the Linux versions of Overtone DSP's plugins, but the latest version of REAPER won't load them in AVL-MXE-2020. They get scanned into the reject bin.

Any idea why? I PM'd Mike at Overtone as well.

I'm licensed for all of them except for the AF210/M EQ, and they all function on Xubuntu 20.04 without issues.

I always un-archived them myself down to the proper .so file, and put them in my .vst folder. The archived file has versions for a bunch of different OS variations, and even the Linux folder has both 32 bit and 64 bit versions.

I just tried one directly from the website and the .so un-archived Linux version is rejected when the latest version of REAPER scans it. Very odd.

Try getting rid of all traces of what you've installed in the .vst folder, and then manually extract the .so file yourself, making sure you get the appropriate 32 or 64 bit version.

If REAPER finds a file that is inappropriate, then finds another file with the exact same name, it will not attempt reading it because it believes it has already checked it.

I had that happen when trying the demo of Pianoteq. Justin figured out that with the whole folder structure of the archive in the .vst folder, REAPER was finding the Pianoteq7.so file for ARM processors before finding it for X86-64. Once I only had the X86-64 version in my .vst folder, REAPER found it and it worked.

Default LV2 plugins are also not working

I just found out that none of the LV2 plugins are working in Linux REAPER 6.25 , along with the Overtone DSP issue.

Do you mean traces of just that one vst or everything in that folder?

The LV2 problem also is also present. The LV2'a are recognized, but won't work when I load one. I am suspecting version 6.25 of potentially causing both problems but will check what you mentioned.

I mean start with no Overtone folder or any part of any Overtone plugins in your .vst folder.

This is all I have in my .vst/Overtone folder.

DYN500.so EQ500.so FC70.so PTC-2A.so PTM-5A.so RVB500.so

Are you running the X86_64 version of REAPER?

I am running v6.25/Linux-i686

When I load an LV2 plugins it says:

The following effect plugin could not be loaded

I have nothing in the Overtone folder now but PTC-2A.so and it won't scan at all.

I cannot even load plugins now using CARLA RACK. Something got broken.

v6.25/Linux-i686 is the 32 bit version of REAPER which won't load any 64 bit plugins. Only 32 bit plugins will work with the version of REAPER you have installed.

Thanks Glenn, that was silly of me and of course was the problem.

What is the best way to uninstall the 32 bit version since it seems to be installed as well as the 64 bit version now?

You can just nuke the folder for the 32 bit version. REAPER stores some user particulars in .config, but those should be tied to the 64 bit version now.
