There is a, I suspect, new issue with umlauts, that, I think, wasn't there before.
What's displayed in the undo list correctly is wrong in the menu bar.

That's just the software showing half-hidden protest about words like "Cracktruppenzugehörigkeit" or "Ostzonensuppenwürfelmachenkrebs". (I once had a demo cassette from them labeled "Postbohnengruppentrüffelmachentapes präsentieren Ostzonensuppenwürfelmachenkrebs").

I can't understand this iffy behavior, because "Gruppenzugehörigkeit" is something tempting, welcoming, which is sorta part of the spirit of Reaper.
So Reaper shouldn't get butthurt like a kooky girl.
BTW: I suspect "Ostzonensuppenwürfelmachenkrebs" was a band from Saarbrücken and the studio "Postbohnengruppentrüffelmachentapes" was somewhere near Munich.

It's the truncation of the string that makes the UTF-8 invalid. Fixing for 4.73pre2.

I also observed, that strings, that were already translated, now aren't displayed translated anymore. (Can't remember right now which ones, but I had the feeling that I had translated some strings in request dialog boxes like "Do you want to save...." which now are displayed in English again).
And then (I think, I asked that before) wouldn't it be possible to insert coordinates and sizes of windows and elements in the langpack file(s) like eg. in WALTER, to get correctly aligned elements without truncated strings?
And: is there a way for translators to generate the hashcodes themselves? I mean, we probably could be more topical up to date with translations like Nicholas can be with the manual. On top of that it could make your work easier in the long run.

Does anyone noticed that in Mac OS X some of the items are not changed. Like in File menu, the first 7 items never change. I download the Deutsch langpack, and it is the same.
Though in Windows everything is fine.

Note about the Prefs window, and windows made of tabs:
The Preferences dialog box is a bit "special", as Justin just shown above you might need to tweak several langpack [sections] to get it right because this window (IDD_PREFERENCES) is made of various pages (IDD_PREFS_*). IOW, when you scale IDD_PREFERENCES, you'll probably want to scale all related prefs pages accordingly: IDD_PREFS_GEN, IDD_PREFS_PLAY, IDD_PREFS_REC, etc
The same goes the other way around, one you scale one of IDD_PREFS_*, you have to scale the parent window IDD_PREFERENCES.
The same goes with tabbed windows: when you scale the content of a tab, you have to scale the parent window too. For Project Settings, for ex., it means you need to scale IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS whenever you scale one of the IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_* tabs (IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_SETTINGS, IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_RECORDING, IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_VIDEO, IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_ADV, or IDD_PROJECTSETTINGS_NOTES).
Truncation issues would persist otherwise: pages or tabs would remain too small within a larger window.
Or, the other way around, pages/tabs would be too large for the parent window as in (benf's screenshot, thanks!):

Mergetool in osx
Hello I have tried to use merge tool in osx for updating lines in Langpack but have no results anytime.
Here is a screencapture so you can see what terminar tells me.
It tells me like an error:"dyld unknown requires..."
Can someone helpme whith this please?

I would say that we need git-hub project with good moderators and maintainers where all the localization live. "Semi official" at least.
Unless we do something like that, it's going to be fragmented and fast.
Forums aren't a way to handle development of even localisations.

New magic scale parameter it is good. But still a lot of pain for translaters. I made scale very big and not usability, but still the text does not fit.
Need parameter for change of each parameter. Like <BR> from HTML or scale but for each parameter. Or some upgrades for scale logic.
Anyway need update of localization system.

I was able to change some pan strings that I wanted different. I've had no luck trying to get rid of the percent(%) string though. Any ideas?

Hello friends, I have been working with the new template (9Feb2015), but still have a problem that I think it´s already mentioned in this Thread but I cant find the answer.
The thing is that some lines that are translated in the .txt, are OK for the PC version but not in MAC
Does anybody know how to solve this?
I attach two images in which the same Langpack is used so you can see what I´m talking about.

Hello again I´m a little bit upset because no one help me with the doubt I posted just before, anyway...
I write again this time about translation of Wild Card Help
Using the same .txt file, on Mac the first line is non tranlated, the rest is ok, and on Windows the accent makes the caracter change just for the dialgo.
I attach .jpg files so you can see what I mean.
If some one can help me THANK from all REAPER`s spanish speakers

Looks like your trying to run the OSX merging tool by double-ckicking its icon, but you have to run it from a terminal instead, like:

./merge_langpacks_osx template_2015-02-09.ReaperLangPack mylanguage.ReaperLangPack > mylanguage_UPDATED.ReaperLangPack
You'll probably get an error message like "./merge_langpacks_osx: Permission denied" though. If so run that command (and re-try the above):

Yes, media file saving properties and project settings are present in different [sections] of the langpack. There is also one [section] per media type, you'll find them by searching for "SINK_CFG": IDD_WAVESINK_CFG, IDD_MP3SINK_CFG, IDD_OPUSSINK_CFG, etc.
There are other places where those "sub-dialog boxes" are used too, like the render window of course => scaling everything accordingly might be a good idea...

I couldn't duplicate your issues... Did you merge the new template as explained above? Are you sure you are saving the LangPack file with "UTF8 with BOM" encoding? (you need text editors like Editpad++ on Windows or Sublime on Mac to get such options). If you still have problems, can please you zip and attach your langpack file?

I changed the name to the langpacks to I (original9Feb) and E mine:

Thank you for this info, but it did not help. I have a lot of empty space, but text does not fit (
Maybe should be allowed to move the parameter to one line below? Now vertical scaling not usability.

I have only tried in Render Window.
I work on mac but when I up date my translation (Spanish Lang Pack), I check it in both systemns before shanring it in several forums.
I would love to resize at least nine or ten windows that in my language boxes don´t fit quite well with the translated text size...

A new template langpack is available (on lol/i8n): template_2015-03-23.ReaperLangPack.
It contains new strings, etc but it mainly allows you fixing OSX menu issues like:

New Scaling Line / Problems & Solutions
Hello, I wrote before that the New Scaling Line was no working on Mac but that is not so.
I have been checking again and the thing is that It works Ok BUT ONLY IN 5.PRE VERSIONS.
Here is the checking for 4.77 in Win and Osx System and 5.20Pre Win
Are we going to be able to use it in any 4.xx version or we forget about it untill REAPER 5 is Realeased?

Just translated the "######## added in template (section: prefs_meter_help):" section (and removed the semicolon at the start of each line ... ... just in case ...) but the translations won't show up - just the US-English strings. What did I do wrong?

Window Text Scaling Line Problems Between Pc/Mac
Hi, I´m translating into Spanish the new lines including in R5 and also rescaling text windows for better text fixing.
I work on mac but before share I check also in Pc.
After Preference windows resized, I cheked it also in Pc but the scaling window didn´t react the same as in Mac even using the same LangPack file.
It´s normal ??? Do we have to use a different langpack for each plataform ???

Hi, I have a user requesting me for tranlating these lines:
WASAPI shared mode device error: input device samplerate does not match output device samplerate!
You should change the device samplerate in the control panel to match, or use exclusive mode.
I have looked into it in the last original template but I can´t find it.
Does any body know anything about it ??

True, but in this case the localization code was just missing actually.
So, thanks for the report and please keep on reporting such missing langpack entries!
This is fixed in v5.05pre1, but you'll also need a new template to benefit of the fix, indeed.
I think it's preferable to wait before releasing a new template because there are other goodies in the work.
BTW, when it will make sense and to make things a bit more predictable on your end, I was thinking of updating the template for new REAPER "minor integer versions". For example, I mean updating the template for REPAER v5.1, for v5.2, for v5.3, etc.

Yes, it is preferable to scale things in Windows because it usually comes with a bigger default font than OS X.
OS X should always adapt correctly to things scaled on Windows, but that is often not true the other way around...
