Which printer?

If it's a network printer with Bonjour built-in, you're done. It should work.

If it's a non-network printer, you need to turn on printer sharing in System preferences/Sharing.

WORKGROUP is Windows networking and is not needed.

Note that your router needs to be Bonjour aware. Most are.

tks 4 reply

printer is hp officejet 4315 (right at 10 yrs old)
i'm calling it a network printer-it's attached to a win10 pc on my WORKGROUP. because of the age,
i doubt seriously it has bonjour built in. i have (since my orig post) moved the printer from the mac
mini to the win 10 pc. when it was attached to the mac, printer sharing was enabled.
my issues are these: the printer can be installed on the mac, the xp pc, or the win 10 pc. it will print only from the computer the printer is attached to. i am able to share files between all three computers but can print only from that computer that the printer is on.
not sure how to check to see if my router is bonjour aware. the only router i use is the one provided by my isp.
