Default Multiple Midi channel question

Hey all, I'm trying to control Guru in Reaper, but to access some of Guru's functions you have to use separate MIDI channels. I've set my controller to do this, and I'm able to trigger Guru's engines separately with different MIDI channels, but I'm having a problem getting Guru to respond to MIDI channel 12 (Guru special commands).

Coming from Ableton Live, in it I have to make separate MIDI track for each MIDI channel I want to use, am I missing something like this on channel 12 for Reaper? I've been RTFM, but maybe there's something like that or a setting I'm missing? thanks

Channel 12 is not special in Reaper. You do not need (but you can have) separate tracks for each MIDI channel. Each MIDI clip can contain notes and CC messages for any or all channels.

What GURU special commands are being sent? - it may be that Reaper deos not pass them on (regardless of the channel)

Disclaimer: I do not have GURU.
