I can't install Licecap in C:

Messing around tonight with Licecap, which did not work for long on my computer (w10 64b), I surfed trought this thread and got the idea of installing it on an external HD and bang, it started to work again. Except that I have to open created GIF images with Paint app.

Is this standard procedure?
Is there a better way to install it ( I tried this business of deleting licecap.ini but it did not do much).
