Default MIDI editor - recorded notes don't display in inactive items (FIXED)

1- create a couple of midi items in a vsti track
2- enter first midi item on track in midi editor
3- overdub a performance across multiple midi items
4- BUG: midi notes recorded into inactive midi items are not displayed in editor until that midi item is double clicked/made active

this whole thing makes me want dedicated MIDI tracks. all i want is to be able to use 1 editor for the whole track and see everything as it's entered.

i guess i could make a series of actions that constantly selects all items on selected track and glues them but that seems sloppy
