Default Spot Editing Without Splitting?

I've been assuming that in order to "spot" edit, say, a p-pop in a vocal, I'd have to split out that P sound and then apply an EQ to just that item. Obviously this could result in a lot of sliced up audio on a long vocal track.

But I was just going through Kenny's Spectral Editing tutorial (thanks for that, Kenny!) and using that process, can apply edits JUST a p-pop or JUST a sibilant S sound, etc. without having to slice out those sections of audio.

So if it can be done with Spectral editing, are there other ways I've just (sigh) not known about all these years to spot-edit without using Spectral editing (which is a bit time consuming)?

Thanks!

You can use any sort of item FX envelope or item properties envelope i.e. volume, pan, Etc.

NO! Use spectral edit. It's the best! How is it time consuming? Just make a selection and go!

Well doing it one time isn't THAT bad. But it's just a lot of steps. You have to right click and choose it from the dropdown menu. then you have to select Add Spectral Editing to item. Then you have to drag the window to select just the frequencies you want. Then you drag the gain and fade knobs.

But since you can copy and paste the edit to other p-pops, that can really speed things up.

If there were a way to highlight just one section and apply a preset EQ to JUST that section, it would be faster. I just wondered if that were possible.

I made keyboard shortcuts for them.

Use something like Nova EQ and dynamically cut that frequency.

Never used that before. I'll look into it. Thanks.

Take Volume envelopes work good for this too. But there are a lot fewer actions & options compared to regular (track) envelopes.
