Problem with shortcut / modifer assignments
Iīve seen many situations in which shortcuts/modifers wouldnīt work as expected when a specific key such as Ctrl, Alt, etc. is involved. The next recipe can be tested - as I did - on a fresh portable install of v4.75 :
1 - Open a fresh, new project in a fresh, portable install.
2 - Open the Action List, look for the action "Track : Select track 01" and assign it the shortcut "Alt + F1" or "Alt + W".
3 - Create three or more empty tracks. Click outside of them to be sure that no one is selected.
4 - Run the newly created shortcut : did it select track 01? In all the scenarios I tested it - including the one with the fresh portable install - it didnīt. It selects all but the first track. If I assign other shortcut without the Alt key to the action, for example "Ctrl + Shift + F1", the action runs nicely without a problem.
This is just the latest example Iīve met. Not only this applies to the Alt key, of course. Ctrl key has also proved to be problematic in certain cases, as stated in this thread : http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...32#post1409832 . On that issue, changing the Ctrl for other key solved the problem. A similar situation, this time not easily reproducible but certainly solved by changing the modifer, can be found here : http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=149762 .
The list goes on... something makes the shortcut/modifier assignment prone to conflicts.
If you could reproduce it, you can vote here : http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=5424

Hi guys!
Thanks for such a rapid confirmation! I have added in the first post the link to the issue in the tracker! I think the recipe is easily reproducible beyond any particular setup...

Iīd like to recall that this bug, in spite of being labeled as "unconfirmed" in the tracker, itīs quite easy to reproduce and is evident in the program since at least v4.73 (it probably dates from older). V4 versions and the current V5 pre cycle show the same behaviour.
Right now, I just wanted to create some toggle actions to float specific FXs in specific tracks and Iīm finding a hard time to achieve it, basically, because something as simple as running the "Select track nš...." shows a buggy behaviour with shortcuts.

It seems that, while we are at v5.28, this topic is still relevant. This is another issue derived, apparently, from the same kind of conflict :
http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...67#post1757467
Probably this thread I post above sholud be merged with this one, for the sake of forum economy...

Confirmed -- what's interesting is it is actually intentional behavior (matching the functionality of if you had clicked on the track). I'm not sure that that behavior makes sense in that context, though... discuss.
