Yes, play on words based on the film (I always struggle with thinking of clever titles) - rest is in the description, it's based on scales (ragas) used by the countries of Indian subcontinent.

I loved the movie and spend 2 years in India and Nepal so I was interested in that.
Titles are always a problem for me too...

I'm glad you were able to get to those at least. They're not my best efforts, but it gives an idea of the music I've been doing. Thanks for listening!

(Hi Style and Mac ?)or Paul and...

Well, first you ask for discretion... I didn't really ask for 1 276 Google photos, and some greater pictures.. In fact I will not touch your Google Drive folders whom asks "only" 16 hours to download (just for the pictures)with my very fast "french connection" (for those who likes cinema). Your Soundcloud links will be enough.

I couldn't get into everything you brought. (can't say you came with empty hands).

I've listen to a few of every links. After 4/5 links x a few pieces of each, I came back to the very first.
It looks to me it's the richest. With a lot more variety in it. It makes me think of a few listenings of my youth.
Let's say with no order : Martha and the Muffins, Propaganda (those two because of the Sängerin's voice), also Dead Can Dance, Kate Bush (always the voice in some way), and a lot of other things I had from 78 to later. Does any of those rings a bell. Brilliant stuff anyway. Really enjoy it.

Like some of your videos too.

Thanx for sharing. Bye

Hi Boc.

Nothing much to say.

Except maybe that I spend like 30 minutes I wish I can have every day. Aerial atmospheres...

Not the kind I'm able to make (I wish I could). Definitely the kind I like to listen to.

Nice, nice work.

Thanx, Bye

PS : what about now ?

Thanks for listening and for the nice comments All of that music was written between 2002 and 2005'ish. Since then it's been Music Tech BA - Mixing and mastering business. Pretty much all my energy goes into improving other peoples music now with little impetus for my own unfortunately - that will change some day I hope! I still mess around composing form time to time but it's just for fun and usually ends in the recycle bin lol. I'll have a listen to your music shortly

Btw - I'm enjoying your music. The track entitled 'FX' has an industrial feel - quite John Foxx like. Really nice work actually - A bit John Carpenter too perhaps.

It's exactly why this thread appeared. Lack of inspiration this days.

Trying to quit smoking. Actually divide by 4. (From 40 to 10/12).
Then since 4 days now, not an idea, nothing.

So trying to vampirize you guys a little.
But having a big pleasure doing it. Discovering people that were just next door on Hearthis or Soundcloud.

Sorry for your country piece. Not my kind. I prefer when your daughter is singing.

Hi again Boc.

A bit Flattered by the John Foxx analogy. Didn't knew him. I like the treatment on his voice, a bit 80' like. And watching a few clips, the guy might have interesting things in his mind.
For Carpenter, do you mean scary ?

Sorry, I forget this part. I've bought the Scarbee Prebass, Studio Drummer, and I have too "Kinetic Treats" and "Retro Machines Mk2" that came for free but I don't use so much.

Plus a few free third party libraries. Cinematic sounds, some guitars, FX, that's it.

Listening right now... Wow... very nice relaxing music, but yet with some energy.
Are you working on another album ?

Hi, cheers for listening Well, following this thread I had a chat with my label boss and I tentatively said yes to writing at least a new ep Hopefully it will be vinyl as well which would be nice. If it comes to fruition I'll certainly mention it here - probably in the lounge or something nearer the time.

Hi TOR, I guess.

Impressive work you got there. As soon as I have a few free hours, I'll have it totally.

Very nice work on vocals, probably yours but the girl's is excellent too.
Powerful sound.

Reminds me of some progressive things I've on my 20 yo.

Keep going, Bye.

thanks! :-)

no, it's not me singing.. in these projects i do the electronics and keyboards, and a lot of the guitars.. and i make most of the initial music, the starting points.. i always like to work with a variety of people, and tons of collaborators and contributors, to keep the 'creative juices' flowing, so there are different persons and musicians involved in the various albums and projects, and we 'finalize' the music together..

(this is just a selection of what i've been involved in, by the way, just what is available on bandcamp, etc.. there's also a lot of much weirder stuff, on different formats (like cassettes) that probably nobody here likes, hehe)

Cool-um by plaid,do you mean the english electronic music duo?
Also,as you currently do mastering bladerunner-i would sincerly love your opinion on a track- can you tell if this track is 'real' or synthesized please? In other words- could you describe 'how' it may have been created..i think it's on topic,as it invites discussion on the process of inspiration etc etc.. please+ty. =)
Link> https://soundcloud.com/sonic-spiral-...ias-motion-pt2

It's 1 of my own, which i quite liked at the time of creation. not trying to promote or anything here,as that's not the goal or aim at all.
I think it's a good thread, because inspiration or creation can happen at ANY moment-or so,the lack of it!!
By listening to 'others' music creations,1 has the ability to take what is already made, and put your own 'spin' on things-- i get a lot from others inspirationally-as i tend to harmonize or get rhythmatic while listening/chillin..
Cheers.

Just doing pro voiceover, but Reaper gets the job done easy and clean.

Hi Brian.
That' the point. Exactly why this thread took place. I did it because I'm precisely in the situation of "What a fucking big empty virgin white (or grey) arrange view" and doesn't think of how to manage with it.
Quite a rare situation for me.

But hopefully, you're right. I think nothing's create really, never, always inspiring by something that already exist. And listening to "others" is a good way to get in "creation" again.

Bye

Hi Ray.
Maybe not the right place for this post. You got a cool voice and post production looks great but difficult for me to find inspiration in it.
Probably you can find more technical threads to have return about it.

Yep - Ed and Andy. I've followed their music since Mbuki Mvuki and it's been quite surreal to end up mastering for them as well as loads of other folks like FSOL, Richard Devine, Ulrich Schnauss etc.

Sure - I gave it a listen - and while it doesn't directly relate to mastering.. I would say it's virtual instruments - not sure whether sample based or synthesised to be honest. It's seems like a bit of an improv with a thoughtful/ponderous mood?

Interesting- i think that maybe VERY common with a lot of users actually -- tbch-- i find it's only when i START to learn something,or start a new project,is the ONLY time i want that emptyness (unless the music is based upon 'emptiness' itself!)
Doing something experimentally usually gets my creative juices flowing, because it induces many things... concentration, knowledge of subject/instrument,exploring some 'unknown boundries--either sonically/technically or melodically. =)) Bye.

Cool-yea-it's basically a hybrid of real acoustic samples with synthesis layering--i kinda like the electronic feel as well--modern,u know, i'm sure.
Completely random session when 1st made--i guess it just.. came through... Ty.

Quite a rare situation for me.
One of my approaches to music making - even back when I first started out about 2001 or so - is to just grab audio from anywhere and stick it on the arrange page. This means one is no longer staring at emptiness and you have some material to work with. Then it's chopping things out to use as source material to build new music with. I'm probably very much in the minority in this approach but it might be something fun to try if you want to try something new. I make sure it's pretty much unrecognisable from the source in the process of building new structures out of it.

1945 French song, "Les Feuilles mortes" (literally "The Dead Leaves"), with music by Hungarian-French composer Joseph Kosma and lyrics by poet Jacques Prévert.

A big thank you to your countrymen for such a sweet piece.

You would be amazed how many "english" classics were actually written by french composers and english lyrics overlaid.

Look up the origins of "Comme d'habitude" and then check out Paul Anka and "My way" for instance.

there's also a lot of much weirder stuff, on different formats (like cassettes) that probably nobody here likes, hehe)
I might I am very glad for this thread to see what people have done. I have tended to think Reaper forum is mainly for blues/rock/pop music, not so much things I find interesting like classical (but not "epic orchestral film score"). So I am pleased to see I have been wrong or at least this thread has brought some different musicians out

maybe I should go on the French thread with auto translate set, there seems some nice music there
