List your favorite open source Linux audio utilities
Always looking for useful open source audio utilities. I'm not thinking of the "major" items like DAWs and plugins though, but more like utilities and targeted tools that help with managing/organizing/analyzing/playing your audio/music files or related audio tasks on your Linux machine.
For example, here are some useful tools I can think of. Some of these are obvious that probably most Linux users use by default. Soundconverter Easytag GNU GTick LAME Asunder Gpodder Pavucontrol VLC Clementine Rhythmbox FFmpeg Sonic Visualiser FMIT (Free Music Instrument Tuner) If I think of some more I'll add them. I'm curious what utilities you all use? |

Forgot to mention batch/bulk file renamers I use... not specifically for audio of course, but indispensable for audio work.
KRename Bulky Renamer - (this one is kind of a newcomer, part of Linux Mint but it's an XApp so it works great in many distros) Thunar bulk renamer - when in Xfce, Thunar has a renamer built-in. |

Good points - I guess since Reaper is one of the few obvious exceptions I make to proprietary software on Linux, I don't consciously *think* of Reaper as an exception to open source. Interesting to see that bias/blind spot creep in on my own question!
I guess if I'm being consistent with my own usage of Reaper, I probably should have phrased the question differently. So I suppose if I'm being honest with myself, I'm curious about *any* of your favorite Linux audio utilities that you guys use, open source or proprietary. BTW, thank you all for your responses, already seeing things I've never used before, this is very helpful. Very glad this Reaper for Linux subforum exists. |

ANS! (of course sonic visualizer) and lots of 90's programs - funny they work on Reaper... sometimes you have to change the extension to '.so' text to voice etc.
