Default Reaper awesome!

Since I got it stable, it's been really great. Reaper is great. I think it sounds good and the plugins are managed well. Here's a mix I just rendered through an API 2500 compressor doing about 3db of reduction. Mp3 320 Kbps.

Nice song! And yep -- we all agree, Reaper's great! Why pay more, right?! I personally came from Cubase. Wild horses couldn't drag me back.

If I may, I just think the acoustic guitar is slightly overwhelming some of the other elements of your mix. The vocal is a little far away; and better vocal processing would, I think, improve this. Maybe compress it a little more so it sounds up front and in your face, then add a subtle ping pong delay (not too wet -- just a tiny bit) and subtle room reverb on it, just for presence. I like the vocal, so let's hear it, y'know?! Some similar approach to kick drum probably wouldn't go amiss either. But, little things. So, welcome to Reaper world. Have fun producing and enjoy the ride!

I just went back to my old DAW (the one from Germany) to finish up a couple of old things and I am sooo glad I migrated to Reaper. Its so much better imo. With this new i9 13900KF box I can run complex projects with piggish VSTis and piles of plugins at 2ms latency and its smooth as silk. Tried that in the German DAW on the same i9 and nothing but cracking....and of course both are as optimized as possible in terms of internal settings.

Sounds a bit plastic/over-processed/unnatural on the ATCs here. Nice recording, song and arrangement though!

Yes. I'm running an old i7 2600 3.4 ghz 32 bit Windows with big projects and the cpu isn't even registering 10 percent. It's really pretty incredible.

Here's an interesting thing. Here's the mix through a Pye limiter plugin. I also have a hardware Pye copy here that's pretty cool and punchy. The plugin is really cool too. It's really grabby and obvious on the mix. File:
