Default Grow/shrink by grid

How do I grow and shrink an item's length by grid? What's the name of its key command? In other words, can I stretch items by grid without using trackpad or mouse?

From the Main menu
View > Nudge/Set Items [N]

This will give you a little window where you can set what and how you want to be moved.

If you have snap on, you can just grab the edge(s) and drag. There are actions also...

I tried that but I'd like to do the thing in a quicker way.

Which keywords should I write to filter the actions?

Well, nudge is one good word for the search filter if you like those actions. Maybe shrink too.

Here's a custom action that should do it. Requires SWS Extensions.

Item navigation: Move cursor to end of items
Go to start of next measure
Xenakios/SWS: Trim/untrim item right edge to edit cursor

Well, that wasn't exactly what I was looking for but your advice helped me to solve the problem - so, thanks!

I came up with a workaround described in the attached files.

Awesome. I wouldn't think of them as workarounds though. Actions and Custom Actions are the crux of Reaper's functionality.

And most importantly, Reaper has basically revitalized my and many others interest in ITB mixing, music production and computer-based songwriting after we'd got fed up by slow updates and non-existent user feedback response of some other DAW developers and, furthermore, Reaper's incredible customizability makes it truly stand out from the crowd.

I just use:

Set note length to double. (Shift right arrow)
Set note length to half. (Shift left arrow)

Here's a couple others I find handy (Select notes before using):

(Only works in the midi editor context)

Duplicate:

Edit: copy
Navigate: set cursor to end of selection
Edit: unselect all
Edit: paste

Half time duplicate:

Edit: copy
Navigate: set cursor to end of selection
Edit: unselect all
Edit: paste
Set note length to half

Double time duplicate:

Edit: copy
Navigate: set cursor to end of selection
Edit: unselect all
Edit: paste
Set note length to double

You can also select some notes and hold down control+shift then drag the end of a note and time stretch your selection.

These are great custom actions for my left and right arrow however they only work for one selected item. Anybody got an idea how one could edit them to grow/shrink multiple selected items by grid?

Open nudge / set item windows

choose nudge edge 1 grid unit

open action list

save nudge dialog settings # 1

add any key shortcut to the actions : nudge left/right by saved nudge dialog setting

use shortcut
