Default Ratio 1:1 still compresses on Fabfilter Pro C? What am i missing?

Hi! I'm trying to learn the Fab C for EDM but there are strange things happening that I don't understand:

* Peaks way below threshold still affects gain reduction (i.e. pumping in rhythm with beat)
* Ratio 1:1 still compresses: In fact ratio setting has NO impact on how the compressor compresses (same gain reduction curve no matter what)

This is so strange, I have no idea what i'm missing here? :/

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers,
Loopa

If:

your ratio is 1:1
wet volume is 0.0
dry gain is -INF

You should not see the signal effected at all.

But if any of those parameters are touched you will see a difference in the waveform in the GUI and in Reaper's meters.

Some FF plugins have the 'midi learn' on by default. And I think (not sure) that I had some erratic behaviour from that when it's inserted on a vsti track with midi.
It's underneath on the left.

Oh, I maybe misunderstood your question, but I think I get it now.

One thought, maybe you have the effect on the input instead of in the effect bus? This has happened to me a few times since starting Reaper. Make sure the effect is on the FX and not the IN|FX.

@ loopa

Perhaps you could compress a simple problem project file (no audio samples needed) into a ZIP file and post it here as an attachment so that we can have a look at it and see what's (not) happening?

How to post attachments (in Post #1)
