Default MuteTrack - Keep Sends: Question

Is there an option somewhere that allows pre-fader sends to work (send) when the track is muted?

Right now, muting a track also mutes the sends, which means if a receiving track is using an external side-chain for ducking, the effect is gone when the sending track is muted.

It seems that the track's mute control is before the sends in the signal flow. Is there any option to change that?

My workaround: untick master/parent send.

Thanks for your suggestion but that doesn't solve the issue. If the track in question is being routed to a sub-mix, then master/parent is unchecked anyway.

Here's an example:

3 tracks - Kick, Snare & Hats - sent to a sub-mix bus. Master/parent is unchecked for these tracks.

Bass on track 4 with a ducking compressor triggered by a send from the kick track.

Everything works fine.

But if the Kick track is muted, the bass track's compressor no longer ducks because the Kick's sends are also muted.

Master/parent settings do not change this.

What is needed is an option to place the Mute control AFTER the track's sends. Now it seems that Mute is pre-send.

So I'll ask again: Is there an option to change this anywhere?

Why not mute the kick send that is sending to the submix bus if master / parent send is already unchecked

Make a copy of the track, do not add it to the mix, but use it to feed the sidechain

Now why didn't I think of that (slaps forehead).

Thanks for that suggestion vassaux.

Glad I could help. My career is spent looking for quick answers that work, this seemed like one.

If your kick is in 4, and on the beats, they also make a plugin called Lazy Kenneth (http://www.noisebud.se/?page_id=2099) that handles pumping in 4.

Anyway, have fun!
