Default 1000% Slower

Hi, I just wanted to share my latest sound design experiment - it's the Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme), an up tempo cue with very strong rhythms, slowed down by 1000% (over 30 minutes in length!).

I was inspired to try this after hearing a similar thing done with the main theme from Jurassic Park. It turned out pretty cool and, even though it's heavily FFT processed, let's you hear a new level of compositional detail.

Here's the link!

Pretty impressive stretch quality. Just pasting that piece in Reaper and stretching it to ten times its original length would never sound like that.

Interesting, I saw a similar thing done with a certain annoying pop stars song (which made it sound better!).

I like how the tambre of the opening notes is still so recognizable, I think a few people would figure out what it was from by the first couple of seconds alone.

Hans Zimmer did similar manipulation to create a soundscape, then arranged it for an orchestra (for the score to Inception).

That's really cool! Did you use Paul's Extreme or another
tool to do this? It's amazing how well the software
extends and smooths the transitions.

Cool beans!

It's only Paul stretch, default settings with 10x stretch!
I'm glad you like it, it's a successful experiment

This sounds amazing! Although I don't know the original theme. I'm now dying to hear this applied to the 2001 theme!
