Default SSL gets into the interface market

I just came across this while window shopping.

https://www.solidstatelogic.com/interfaces

I’m wondering if they will be decent kit considering the price point
Is closer to lower mid level competition products.

Wondering how good their ASIO drivers are... I did a bunch of beta testing for them when they evolved Duende into software plugins & THAT software was a excellent right from the start.

I have no doubt that these interfaces will deliver great results for the money. I own an SSL Sigma, several SSL 611EQ's and 611DYN's, an SSL Bus comp, an SSL SiX and an SSL Alpha Channel and they are all outstanding. Reliable professional workhorses that help you to quickly get pro-sounding results.

That said, you should test a unit to find out if it suits your needs and pleases your sound aesthetics. If you fancy a clean/transparent, unhyped, natural yet punchy sound, you'll probably like SSL. You can still add any amount of colour afterwards.

I’m curious as to how well they will hold up to other interfaces in the same price point. I’m due to upgrade sometime within the next year and if this using will suit my needs then I’m all for it.

I would be very surprised if a Google search didn't return the local prices for wherever you happen to live.

£180/£240 in UK.

thanks - they weren't before but they are now. Although the distributor here lists them as analogue mixers not usb interfaces so that might have been the issue

we tried out an SSL 2 on a Win10 i5 machine yesterday. We could track volcals incl. reverb via real-time monitoring a send fx track in reaper and the monitoring button of the SLL. Buffer size was 512 samples. Reverb had a slight latency but was ok for tracking.

Using a Neumann KMS 105, the "2" sounds clean and punchy at lower gain settings (below the 12 o'clock position) and gets more and more saturated/aggressive/gnarly when gain is above the 12 o'clock position. The 4k knob imparts a bit of an exciter fx and may be appropriate in various cases (not with this mic and this voice, though). We were very pleased with the results we got.
