Default Animate keys in piano roll while replay like fl studio etc

I am an fl studio user and trying to make a complete transition to reaper.

WHAT:
The keys in the piano roll should be animated according to the note data while replay of a track.

WHY:
I use DAWs to improvise music.
I am more of a visual guy. And not trained in sight reading. So

i want to see which keys (scales and chords) are animated in the previously recorded midi track.

SO that i can record new midi tracks "in harmony" of the previously recorded midi track.

I think this can be done very easily. Its not anything big, but very important. I have heard that many people would love to have this feature in here.

I hope other reaper users concur with this?

I like any MIDI edtior improvements I must say.I kind a fond of this idea, reminds me a little bit of Guitar Pro app,and it is very visable visual stuff that really helps you stay focused on where or on what note you are actually when you press play button. So I voted.

thank you all for the support!

I wish this comes sooner! I see people leaving reaper for its midi incapabilities so yeah

But i love reaper for many things like its amazing lite weight, good pricing , an active support and update.

So i don't want to use FL just because of this small reason.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it is implemented soon!

This is not a "MIDI incapability". It's just a visual thing, nothing to do with MIDI functionality per se. Leaving Reaper because of this minor thing would be quite stupid IMHO.

If this gets implemented, it should have its own unique coloring:

- [ ] MIDI piano key note-on flash <--- This already exists (see pic)

Your request:
- [ ] MIDI piano key note-on flash (for incoming notes)

So then it should end up being 2 different colors:
- [ ] MIDI piano key note-on flash (for incoming notes)
- [ ] MIDI piano key note-on flash (for existing notes)

=====================================

Regarding MIDI capabilities in REAPER, you really need to check out v4.51 if you haven't. It has received MAJOR MIDI updates. Honestly, and this is coming from someone who does gigantic orchestral MIDI arrangements with 4 loaded instances of Kontakt, REAPER's MIDI is pretty damned amazing now.

I don't think this needs its own color, really. It should just use the key-on flash color that's already there. No need to complicate things.

Well, when I think a little maybe a color is not such a bad idea, lets say you put different on different instruments for an even more visual consciousness.

Can't do that because colors are set up globally in Theme Editor. It's complicating it too much.

Changing colors will not make a big difference,so "just" following notes while playing is fair enough thou.
