Speech Software Synthesizer VST SPEEK 3 Works! check it out!
"VST Speek is a speech software synthesizer that emulates the Software Automatic Mouth (SAM) software for Commode 64:
It can be used to create a robotic voice. It responds to MIDI notes and pitchbend. It's monophonic and velocity sensitive." free download @: https://www.kvraudio.com/product/vst-speek-by-wavosaur Often considered a toy... I think it is much more... I just downloaded... unzipped... copied the VST to Reaper FX folder within the Plugin folder ----(Make sure it is the linux version... and has: ".so on the end") Just open it up in under FX in a track... type some letters in and start having fun! This is the type of thing that can really astonish some people! I use it in some of my recordings... Play with the adjustments or presets. I know there was a few of these speech software synths in the day... Anybody find any others? Did you get them going in Reaper Native Linux? I want to know! tc |

Reaper and Ardour is not finding the plugin, which I copied in ~/home/blabla/.vst . When Ardour is starting I see, that it's found while scanning, but I do not find it in the plugin manager.

Here's what it looks like after switching to REAPER's generic UI, then back to what should be the normal UI, then selecting a different speech setting. Everything except the proper UI is left in the space where the UI should be. This is on REAPER v5.963 running on Xubuntu 18.04 Last edited by Glennbo; 01-05-2019 at 10:58 AM. |

No. Write it down in your notebook, scan it, run ocr, copy-paste to vim, copy-paste to Reaper and you're ready to go.
(alternatively (unfortunately a bit more straightforward) enable "dirty hack" in plugin config menu) |

VST speek... how loaded...
I downloaded the package to 'desktop'...
(the typical brown wrapper unzipped) it reads: VstSpeek3-x64so. tar/gz I then unzipped it to 'desktop' That should make the unzipped file look similar to regular linux plugin file or reaper plugin file, and that should read: VstSpeek3.so DOUBLE click "REAPER" FOLDER...then DOUBLE CLICK "Plugins" FOLDER... then I just copied it there... (then i copied it to reapers Plug in FOLDER) should work... {With Linux Mint I RIGHT clicked on the VstSpeek.so Plugin - entered 'Properties' just to make sure the 'Permissions' read" Access: Read and write Group: N/A Access: Read and write Access: Read-only Execute: X Allow executing file as program If you need to make sure it EXECUTABLE and READ AND WRITE This is on LINUX MINT 18 OR 19 Hope this helps... I will try to help if you have a snag. I am no pro... but 2 heads are better than 1 (even if 1 is made out of wood) lol tc |

VstSpeek3
I am not running wine or anything of the like. (no bridging etc.)
It is a '.so' just like my Native Reaper Plugins... .so should run natively.... |

VstSpeek3 GUI
When you copy the plug in into REAPER it should be available in you Reaper Tracks: add FX. When you add VstSpeek3 to the track - it should pop up the VstSpeek3 GUI. Then you should be able to type words into the GUI via your PCs keyboard. And hit play (and/or record), and the text should come out as speech through the speakers. Use the presets... or customize your own. // Funny Lilith93; can ask if you are able to use your Keyboard/Midi controller as well as your PCs typing keyboard? or if you just have a Midi Controller configuration? (I never thought of routing it through a midi controller... will try... tc

Glennbo...
I will try to emulate whats happening with your UI. When I load the plugin I just get the proper UI. I do not get the Reaper generic UI... Maybe it has to do with permissions in "Properties"? I believe I am using the same linux kernel but not on Ubuntu... 18.04... I am using Mint...will post soon. Anyone else have ideas why his UI is acting like this? My only guess at this point is to - Right click on the VstSpeek3 plugin and check what the 'Permissions' says. Permit read and write as well as executable!? tc

It's working now. I just have a small Akai lpk 25, but I'm looking for something bigger the next weeks. 48 keys likely.

Generic GUI is blank... fix?
Under preferences>Plugin>(VST?) or what VSTSpeek is under?:
'DEFAULT VST configuration windows to generic UI (instead of of Plug-in UI)' I have the above unclicked...! (No X in the Box) so it stays with the Original Plug-in UI. Hope this helps... so much to learn! tc |

Gespeaker is nice cross-platform and Open Source GTK+ front-end for the eSpeak speech synthesizer application (xcellent for linux)
https://linux.softpedia.com/get/Mult...er-48445.shtml You can download through software manager on mint and the like os. I have not been able to figure out a way to load into Reaper... but its a good stand alone... with like 100 languages male female formants etc. |

Cool plugin! I get it to speak by writing and hitting "Speak", but I can't get it to react to MIDI. Has anyone managed to contrrol pitch etc with their midi keyboard?
