Got my BCF 2000 and could use a little help!
Initially set it up in Mackie mode Emulation and chose the U-2(using only USB).
I installed every driver I could find,Set the control surface to Mackie, did my ins/outs on midi in control surface window, double checked in midi set up that I did not choose the BCF.
So far so good,
I was able to control,
Faders(1-8,9-16)
Track selection
mute
Play button
Push play again for pause
Stop
And rewind.
Problem is the foot switch does not put armed track into REC mode.
I am using a Tascam footswitch with the ¼ inch jack on the end(do you need a special pedal for this?)
More questions:
I switched back to pre-set mode(BCF mode, pwr up holding BC button)
And tried the learn function and had no luck on any Reaper parameter.
Hold learn key
move(for example)Fader #1
Now before I can lift my hand to move fader on Reaper the BCF display say’s “Good”
Good?
I did not do anything yet!
I was going to try and set-up my own pre-set for Reaper step by step(including putting ARMed track into REC mode)but I can’t get by step one.
Any ideals?
I have search about twenty of our threads pertaining to the BCF and they came close to explaining but usually end there(due to user giving up?or having the solution?)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Bardo

I believe there's a guide on this controller in the manual. BTW- how's the quality.

Quality not bad for acouple of bones!
Its good to have faders again.
As far as the Reaper manual goes it is not very specific about which control surface you use.
Just lets you know were to put it.
See below.....
Select Options > Preferences (Ctrl+P) > Control Surfaces to access REAPER Control Surfaces Preferences.
REAPER currently supports the following external Control Surfaces:
• Behringer BCF2000
• Mackie MCU
• Mackie BabyHUI
• Frontier Designs TranzPort
Additional information regarding the setup and use of the [Frontier Designs] TranzPort with REAPER is available from the Frontier Designs website.
Click [[Image:Reaper 0b6 control surface add button.png]] to add a Control Surface.
The Control Surface window allows you to select the Control Surface, the MIDI Input and Outputs, and the Track Offset and Size of the Controller.
Select a Controller from the Control surface mode list, then set the MIDI Input and Output your Controller is using. These settings can be edited at a later date by clicking on the Edit button.
The Control surface display update frequency can be set by entering a value into the field.

I think when I get this all dialed in I'll create a work instruction specifically for the BCF and have it included in the Wiki.
I going to see if I can get it to where I need it this week-end.(3-day one at that!)

Bardo, pretty sure there is BCR 2000 specific stuff at p.101 of the User Guide which should do the job, no?
Forgive if this is not what you are after.

Also(and a big WOOOOO WHOOOOO!)My foot pedal now puts the transport into RECORD" MODE.For some cool ability to "punch in/out

Hi Bardo!wonderful! Can you explain to us how to do this?
I have two BCF2000 and for now i am able to use these two babies us a common mixer(fader, solo, mute, pan, play stop ) but i would use them as an edit control surface also(cut, paste etc...)and as a controller for the most commons mix plugins(like eq's,compressors...) if this is possible...Did you try to do this also?
thanks :-)

Hey Alterego!
As far as I know ther is no control(using BCF)for editing or FX.
We have asked the programers and,you know them,it is most likly in the works.

There are several threads on the forum going over how to deal with Reaper and the BCF2000. I've typed all this stuff too many times and really don't want to do it again, especially as it's all already in here somewhere.
Just dig around a little and you'll find it. All of the Reaper actions can be programmed to BCF controls, and the main functions such as fader position, mute, solo, panning, etc. all receive feedback from Reaper, so the BCF responds when you move things via mouse in Reaper, and Reaper responds when you move things on the BCF.
But Bardo is right, that at this time, controlling FX and such is not really supported.

In the meanwhile i've found other threads that helped me to solve the problem :-)...there is however a little problem...i would have feedback to my bcf2000 from reaper function as arm track, toggle track phase on/off and so on...Because i don't know on wich cc numbers reaper sends the midi messages associated with it's own "functions"(..i've discovered, for now that fader sends on cc 81 to 88,pan from cc 1-8 etc.) to do discover them i use the following procedure
-push the learn button on my BCF2000 and at the same time the other button on which i want the feedback and then on Reaper push the toggle button of the function of which i want feedback.
BCF2000 displays good, then i look(by bcf software) at what number has been sent to the button...
the procedure seems ok on fader, panpot, play, pause, stop but doesn't function on toggle track arm on/off(even if the midi messages arrives at BCF2000 in the learn procedure!! in fact i've discovered that arm on/off sends on cc 57-64),toggle track phase on/off(cc 92-99)...in other words i receive messages from these functions but, even if the bcf2000 buttons is setted on the right cc they don't light up(the display parameter of the buttons obviously is setted ON in the bcf 2000 software so the problem is not there...).....ideas??

You can't teach this old dog diddly...
You can train your BCF, but you can't train Reaper. Reaper is hardwired to send only a pre-determined set of midi CCs, depending on which Reaper preset you choose (Mackie emulation, etc.). Keep hunting the forum, 'cause information about getting both actions and feedback working is in here.
But AFAIK you can't get Reaper to feed back anything it hasn't already been hardwired to do. And believe me, I've tried. Hopefully one day the Cockos team will take a serious look at a fully programmable interface for Control Surfaces.

yes, but i get crashes when automating and no feedback fromt the vst to the controller. i posted in the midevice forum here:
http://www.midevice.com/Forum.aspx
if you guys could join me testing, maybe we can get them to fix the issues. would be pretty cool, since changing "surfaces" on the device already works, so you could use the controller for custom control of many different plugins. switching surfaces by midi is already announced as an upcoming feature.
