Default Anyone Using Nano Kontrol with Reaper?

Is anyone out there using the Korg nano Kontrol with Reaper. I just picked one up to try it and have not been able to get it to work. Any tricks?

hey,

i got it to work. took some fiddling though. install the drivers from the korg website, connect the controller. then start the 'korg control editor'. if the program goes straight to the control applet of the editor the usb driver is installed properly, but if it shows all three korg nano products the nanocontrol is not properly recognized and you have to try again to get the usb driver right.
if that works make sure the 'control only' is checked in the midi devices listing in reaper.
for me it only works properly in 'absolute' mode in the track 'trm' CC setting.

good luck.

I continue to get a message that says the following MIDI inputs could not be opened: USB audio device. Any clue on what that is all about?

don't know.

it took some re-installs of the USB drivers before all was ok on my system. you should see a seperate 'korg' icon in the control panel (XP), and in reaper it shows up as "nanoKONTROL 1 SLIDER/KNOB"

...

Default Remove Control Surfaces

I think in XP Reaper can only have one control interface, so you must remove control surfaces in Preferences. If you have the nanokontrol you do not need any other.

It works perfect for me in XP and OS x.

Look at here.

Default Kontrol

I'm using XP
And have a PCR-50 (set to Control and keyboard)
and nanoKontrol(set to control) and both working fine.
I did however set my PCR-50 to transmit Ch 2 to keep the cc values separate

Default My step-by-step per Axel F instructions

I had to rebuild my Win 7 DAW which meant getting Nano Kontrol back up. Axel F saved my life the first time but I forgot how to redo this setup. I had to document this process myself and came up with the following if it might help someone.

http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=29054
https://stash.reaper.fm/v/7589/nanokontrol.zip

1. Install Korg Nano driver and Korg Kontrol Editor Software.
2. Open Reaper and go to Options/Preferences (Ctrl P).
3. In Preferences, go to Audio/MIDI devices.
4. Double-click Nano in MIDI inputs and check both ‘enable’ boxes, Hit OK.
5. Double-click Nano in MIDI outputs and check the ‘enable’ box, Hit OK.
6. Visit above URLs and download nanokontrol.zip file. Extract zip.
7. Two files are present: scene set (.nktrl_set) and key map (.reaperkeymap)
8. Load scene set file into Nano via Kontrol Editor
a. Open Kontrol Editor and select File/Open/nano_reaper.nktrl_set
b. Click Communications/Write Scene Set/OK
9. Open Reaper, go to Actions/Show Action List, click Import. Locate and import nano1.ReaperKeyMap
10. If necessary, close/open Reaper and repeat steps 4 and 5.

^^^^ Thanks for the instructions! I have a Nano hooked up and I remember that it was a little difficult to setup, but I couldn't tell you why. I just know that I got it working and that it's worth the hassle!

If you're talking to me, I have a Nankontrol 1 that works fine. The post above my first post didn't help you?

Yes, the "step-by-step per Axel F instructions".
I'll try again and make sure each step looks right before I continue.

(I'm a recent Cubase refugee- never got it to work there either)
