Oh, I'm not really doing anything fancy as of yet. I'm a Pro Tools refugee and I'm porting over the key command to cycle through ProTools track modes where cntrl+cmd+right arrow cycles through automation envelopes (in addition to other stuff that they call track modes, or something like that).
In my normal workflow I mainly just reach for key commands for volume, pan, and sends to reverb and delay aux tracks. So, I've just added those to cycle via cntrl+cmd+right arrow. cntrl+cmd+left arrow closes the track envelope lanes. I can just use menus for the other stuff I don't do as often.
As I get more comfortable with scripting in Reaper I may add to that cycle action to mimic (and build on) what I'm familiar with in PT.
(side note: I just wrote my first script, which is also a Pro Tools port - Snap to Next, which snaps the selected media item to the next item on that track. I had found X-Raym's Snap to Previous and noticed there wasn't a snap to next, so I wrote it... was pretty straight forward after looking at X-Raym did. ...Reaper is cool.)
