I am looking for a way to convert recorded Guitar track into a Midi track so that I can use Guitar VST's to input into track's for a better sound

Then your post was very timely, and you should read this:

There are several other audio to MIDI plugins available which are either free and rubbish or expensive, complicated and ugly IME.

The better versions of Melodyne will do audio to MIDI (not that I've ever tried), and there are free online converters that can handle it well enough if the audio is melodically simple (though with some odd quirks, such as, the MIDI items fit perfectly after they've been stretched - and expect pop-ups).

Thanks for that information. I guess what I am trying to do is take a ready recorded rhythm and or lead guitar track, convert it to midi and them input another guitar VST into the midi track and add effects, amps and other editing to the track to add add to a recorded song.

So, I'm thinking:

Lead guitar - maybe use the online conversion tool.
Rhythm guitar - forget it. It's just not going to translate well.

Thanks, FEX. That's what I thought. I thought there might be some way to route the guitar track onto a new MIDI track and record it onto the new MIDI track.

I successfully used Waves "Tune" to make a midi track from an recorded audio track with me playing acoustic guitar.
It was a rhytmic piece using two notes chord.

The cons is Waves and their plugin manager installing a shitload of things called waveshells.
