curser won't move
Help - curser won't move. Even shut down computer & back on. Have I locked something inadvertantly?

So, the edit cursor;
a) won't move as expected,
or
b) won't move at all?
If a), check
Options > Preferences > Editing behavior
If b), well, that's not good... I have no idea what's gone wrong, but it might help us to know whether this problem is;
a) specific to a single project,
or
b) common to all projects.
If b) under the circumstances, you might consider resetting Reaper's configuration to factory defaults. That seems to cure a lot of undiagnosed ailments.

Thanks Fex.
Yes, cursor won't move at all, and common to all projects.
I'll try the "options" route on a project to see if that releases cursor on all, but if I reset Reaper's config, where do I do that?

If you're on Windows, select REAPER (reset configuration to factory defaults) from the Start menu.

OK....reset Reaper factory defaults, but now VSTi's won't play. Do I need to download again? Pop up window tells me "effect configuration is preserved".

VSTi's won't play on any tracks, but recorded VSTi tracks still shows on project.

No, you don't need to download your VSTs again. You need to go to....
Options > Preferences > Plugins > VST
.... and tell Reaper where your plugins are (again).
You do know where they all are, right?
Enter the directory addresses separated with a semicolon (no spaces!) and rescan.

4.26 am. I'm getting through a lot of coffee. The mix is coming together, though.
Is your edit cursor moving now, or did we just goose your DAW for no good reason?

Yes, the cursor started moving right away after reset, but haven't dealt yet with the VST's - will do in the AM.(I'm in Texas).
My cursor has done this dozens of times in the past, but always starts back right away after exiting project & re-entering, or a few times have had to restart computer. But this time it was out for 24 hrs and wouldn't start back.
But ok for now, as long as I can get my VSTi's back tomorrow. Thanks again.

I wonder what's up with that?
I'm glad you got it fixed, anyway.

It is normally a crashed audio interface that causes this, what interface is it, if it is USB have you tried a better USB cable (All USB cables are not the same FYI)
It is rare that anything like this can outlast a restart, so it is likely clashing with some other item, is it on a hub etc etc.

When messing with drivers (ASIO audi interface, ASIO4All, WASAPI) to change the output from monitors connected to the audio interface and laptop speakers the cursor will not move with ASIO4All if everything doesnot line up between the Windows Sound settings and ASIO4All settings.
I just messed with ASIO4all and windows sound settings. I reset both default, selected the built in sound card in the ASIO4all and the cursor moved and played. If I select my bluetooth headphones in ASIO4all, without the headphones connected, the cursor does not move and no sound.
The point being, it appears if the driver destination isn't there (or maybe cannot work at the selected bit/sample rate), Reapers play cursor just sits there when pressing Play, with no warning or error message.

Bluetooth headphones have such terrible latency anyway, just use them with the wavedriver, I doubt they have the underlying WDM driver support that ASIO4All needs anyway.
