Default Rendering extra -silent- audio at the end of item

Hi all in Newbieland!
So these are my first steps into ReaperLand, and I am having problems rendering my file: I am rendering a simple one track audio-file which is 2.30mins in mono, and the rendered product ends up being 25mins long! It has added a whole length of silence at the end of my item... any idea as to what I have set up wrong???

Hi Emilie.

First idea that comme to me is there is an item lost somewhere. Type the "end" button on your keyboard. It will put the cursor at the real end of your project.
And what I prefer to do for rendering is to make a selection, then choose the "selection only" option for rendering, leaving a little space after the end of the last item and before the first.

Bye

Hi Marty.

You're right.
+ for Emilie, double click on the horizontal scroll bar. It will fit the whole project to the visible arrangement window. So that you can see if there's something else you don't want.

Bye

when i saw the thread title i thought that the poster was referring to audio that was extra silent, kind of like the opposite of amps going up to eleven

Thanks everyone for the very cool tips! So here is what’s happened: I had other tracks under the one I rendered. They were hidden in the track manager but still, they were rendered as silence at the end of my rendered master track. So I’ll just go with rendering time selection only from now on to avoid that...
Cheers everyone!

Hi Emilie.

Sorry, I had forgotten to specify this. The track manager is very handy to gain space or visibility, but it's true that you have to go and have a look at it from time to time. That's why I was talking about "visible arrangement" in my second post.

The render of "time selection" is the best solution for me too.
