mmhh... ok. Be aware that I need to press always the same button to activate the currently selected track(s) in Heda Mixer, not different buttons for different tracks, anyway let's see

I likely should stay out of this and let Heda handle it the best way, but I'm just curious and would like to understand it better... perhaps understanding the desire better will help me and others someday...

Here is what I'm seeing as the obstacle to doing what is wanted:

I can create new named instances, and save the given project with the various named instances, each loaded with tracks and locked to those tracks as I want them in the project ....
BUT the saved project does not seem to actually save the VIP Mixers in the same way it would save something like a VSTi...
So that when I quit the project and later recall it, I don't get those particular VIP Mixer to automatically come up with the project.

Maybe there could be some way to make that happen????

I'm glad if anybody can support!! What I need is not what you describe though.. my english must be very bad sorry... I'll try again, plz follow the steps

- I open my 280 tracks project
- I select any combination or single track in the project (for the sake of this example say I select track 125)
- I hit my previously assigned keystroke, say 'J'
- Heda Mixer appears with the selected track (125) already locked
- after sometime I close the Heda Mixer
- This time I select another track... say track 201
- I hit always the same keystroke J
- Hedamixer appears on track 201 already locked (not locked on track 125 or unlocked on track 201)

and so on... so NO MULTIPLE INSTANCES, NO MULTIPLE KEYSTROKES, NO MEMORIZED LOCK STATES, NO HAVING TO LOCK MANUALLY, ...

Thanks for explaining the details of what you want... now I do understand better...

I think the conditions you require prevent you getting what you want.
I could imagine getting close, but still it would not meet all your stated conditions.
I will suggest it anyway and you can go from there:

There is another script, by spk77 for Track Tags...
It would let you, for example, select whatever tracks you want to see in the arrange window and give them a tag name... like 125 traks, or 30 tracks, etc.
You can then have it show any single or multiple tags by clicking on them.
You can dock this script in one of your dockers... and save it with the project.

OK so then let's say you pick one two tags, 125 trks and 30 trks... so now you see only those tracks on screen... then you can use a select all for them and then call up the Heda Mixer [unlocked] and they will all show up in it. Then you can lock it temporarily and work with it.

And later unlock it, and bring up a diff set of tagged tracks and repeat the steps to get them in the Mixer.

While I certainly realize this is now what you are wanting, maybe it it would help until something more to your wishes comes along.

On a tangent, would it possible for this to be somehow integrated with a control surface plugin to allow only certain tracks to be shown on a control surface?

(I had a long-buried feature request for this type of function many years ago. It was controlled/administered from the Track Manager window and remains a dream of mine.)

Default v1.0pre5 (2018-03-14)

New update in HeDaMixer supporting Panning. You have to enable it from the Show submenu.

It supports Mono Pan. Stereo Pan. Dual Pan and some initial support for ReaSurround. For more control of the surround it is recommended to click on it and the ReaSurround plugin will float. But the idea was to have an overall view of all surround plugins in the mixer.

This update also includes a mode that displays the full track name and icon when you move the mouse over it. It can be useful when having long track names or small width for the tracks.

You can easily change the font size with the + and - keys. You need to have the window focused. If docked, then you can click on a track name and it will stay focused.

The theme uses Bebas Neue font by default now. But you can change the font editing the theme file if you want.

As always, let me know if you find any issues or suggestions!
Thanks!

changelog:
* v1.0pre5 (2018-03-14)
+ Panning: Mono Pan. Stereo Pan. Dual Pan.
+ Panning: Some initial ReaSurround support.
+ Mouse over track names to read entire track name.
+ Keys + and - to change font size.(keys work with HeDaMixer window focused)
+ Theme: Change Font support. "Bebas Neue" included as default. If not, Arial or default font should be used.
+ Setting: Show > Margin between tracks
# fix: theme settings, colors, saved for each instance.
# fix: crash in meter from another track. Thanks @hopi

I don't understand what you mean because I don't know about control surfaces. Control surface plugins? Showing only certain tracks on a control surface? No idea.

Nice Heda... always like your newest work, but I don't see any pan faders on the tracks

They are in the theme folder... do they need to be copied into the faders folder or what?

I would assume there is menu to set the pan fader just like for the vol fader but I don't see one

1) what exidus said. Thanks exidus.

2) to customize the faders, you have to copy the theme folder to the "HeDaMixer VIP settings" folder and copy your pngs there.
so the folder will be "HeDaMixer VIP settings\Default_5.0"
leave the subfolders faders and panfaders as they are. For each fader png there must be also a png with the same name in the panfaders folder.

I think you need to copy the folder again to your settings folder because it has the new pannig pngs in panfaders subfolder that may be missing in your settings folder. Is that the case?
May be a bug. It should use default png if not found in the settings folder. I will test it and fix

Oh wait... now I see what is going on...

we have to have a matching named pan fader for every vol fader name...
Ouch...

EDIT: gosh... that does not seem to actually work for custom made faders

for example in the vol faders folder I have Fader HOPI RED.png and in the panfaders folder I have one with the same name

but it does not show up as a pan fader...

I could really wish for the ability to have separate vol and pan faders... so I could have
a red vol fader and still have just a default small fader for the pan fader...

yes... If you have personalized the faders, and if you don't need colors in the panning faders, maybe you can just copy one of the panning faders multiple times and rename them to match.

yes... but that is what I'm trying to say... that does not work so perhaps it IS a bug...

what you are telling me is that it should use the default pan fader if there is no matching named fader....right? but it does not seem to actually do that.

EDIT: in a moment I'll put a set two vol and pan on the stash and give you a link and you can test for yourself...

maybe I'm doing something wrong...

it works
you cannot rename the folders... it has to be "faders" and "panfaders"
each png goes into each of those folders

don't know what to say... as far as I can see I have not changed the folder names... what I sent to the stash for you did have a diff folder name because other wise I would have had two files with same name in the zip, ..you see?

anyway... it sure is not working for me

Hi heda, thanks for this great script. I have a request if possible. “ add selected track to the locked tracks in hedamixer” Maybe “+” button to add selected tracks and lock them like in your loudness graph script.

Hopi, thank you for the faders and template :-)

Hi Heda... yeah me too, ...wonder what was the problem and darn if I really know, because it should be able to work with just matching file names for both fader types...

But maybe there is some thing about what file names will or will not work.,..

What I finally did to make it work, was remove almost alll your png files from both folder, and to also simplify the file names...

When it was not working, I had names like Fader CIRCUS 01, or like Fader HOPI Blue....

When I changed them all to Fader 01.png, [02, 03 etc] and then also to Fader BLUE.png [BLUE, RED, etc.] then it all started to work as expected.

So maybe there is a clue in that????

What would happen when it was not working is that no fader image would show up on the GUI... or I'd get the vol fader and not the pan fader...

Hopi, What additional method to scroll it do you propose? Mouse wheel? It moves the faders now, but maybe there could be an option to do it only if the mouse cursor is over a fader only.

well firstly I was just asking .... cuz I don't know if it is possilbe

but I wasn't thinking about moving faders... that is fine as it is of course

what I was considering is this: lets say you have 100 tracks in a mixer and you have them to 54-64 px wide... AND you have a smallish screen, so they will not all fit onscreen for you to get at them...

If they were in the reaper mixer, we have the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom so we can move through what is visible or not visible... right?

I don't know of a way to do that with the VIP Mixer... maybe it exists and I just don't know about it???

As regards a 'method' to do that horizontal scrolling... ummm... I don't know... could it be just something like Control+ MW?

Hopi. Have you tried Middle mouse dragging to scroll? It's on the documentation page https://reaper.hector-corcin.com/doc...tion-hedamixer

Heda, this may be a bit out of left field but what are the chances that we could see the features of your Mixer expanded to allow something like Reason's SSL mixer, where each track has a set of buttons and knobs for channel strip?

I love this way of working and sorely miss it from Reason. The buttons and knobs could simply be a way of showing controls that are learned to plugins on each track. The idea I have specifically would be to have a standard set of knobs and controls that would not be customizable (at first?), but would be fairly tall, with sections for Compressor, EQ, Gate, etc. Then, the user would be able to scroll the whole mixer up and down to reveal the different sections. The fader and meter could be locked to always be shown while the rest of the sections are scrolled "behind" them.

I imagine that if this "channel strip" were activated by the user, the width of the mixer channels would have to be locked, as the adjustable width property you have currently would probably not be compatible with the concept.

This is surely a big undertaking, but I for one would donate whatever it takes to see this. It's something I've thought about for years, and I figured I'd at least put the request out there

It's a thing of beauty:

Hi HeDa & HeDa-fans,

I came, I saw, I went VIP.. absolutely love everything the mixer can do, but I must admit I've increasingly found myself only using it 'as a luxury' when I felt I had time to configure or fiddle.

This isn't a moan, when I can see how much effort has gone in and how much it can do, but I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve what I am after:

In short, I'd just love to have it so it consistently show all the tracks that are visible in the MCP, all of the time.. like a control surface reflecting the whole session. I'm really not getting on with selecting tracks & locking the view (as I often change track order + delete & insert temp tracks) and I can't find any config that lets me fix it to show everything.

Am I missing something in the menus, or is this something that others have wondered?

Cheers!

Drew
