Question about projection feature:
I created a new controller preset (temp_test), but the projection is showing me layout from the controller preset I did before.

I assumed it would start with a blank layout again when creating a new controller preset.
Is that how it's supposed to be or a bug?

Just a note: I thought tyou wanted to use automation as a workaround for the issue that ReaLearn doesn't turn inactive when the project tab is inactive. That issue is fixed, see changelog. So maybe you don't need the automation anymore?

Could be a bug. Maybe I forget to clear the data. The question is, how did you create the new controller preset? Did you set "Controller preset" to "None"? (that's how it should be done).

Good to know thanks! I think my plan is easier to handle with bypassing the plugin (I want to trigger a "mod scene" in the x32 at the end of each song. By bypassing the plugin I don't need a Mod project for that)

Just received a confirmation from Justin that the missing bypass notification is a bug in REAPER and that they add that for the next build of REAPER. So it will probably work in the next pre-release of REAPER.

Hi Helgoboss, just wanted to thank you again for this awesome Realearn plugin you have made...
i been using it quite extensively, with the X2 maschine Jams & my BCR2000...
Realearn provides me with plenty options & so many i've yet to explore!!
some neat little tricks are hidden in Realearn!!

Make multiple instances of realearn..with the same controller
if you wish to control projectB track volume.. for example
A completely separate Realearn instance(put on inputFX) with ONLY the functions needed for the track you wish to control
and then it can be controlled across projects
visual Feedback can be achieved in some cases

for example:
an FX chain window from inside another project can be made visibile&focused inside another separate project

the call for the FXchain into view is via the inputFX realearn instance which allows control of most aspects of the Trackcontrol, The trouble of course is when you change projects,,, youll still be controlling the same inputFX Realearn instance, this basically becomes a fixed/specific instance.. which could be disabled using Realearns inbuilt disabling VST's function
so there are ways disable them and re-enable them

likewise with many other Realearn FXparameters&various functions(there are limitations on some functions or invoking reascripts)
but much of the individual TrackControls can be controlled from within another project by putting separate realearn instances on a per track basis using the inputFX(as ive discovered)
also keeping a track of midi CC's/notes etc has required me to make a spreadsheet to prevent weird behaviours lol

Interesting !
In the meantime I did a pair of JSFXes that allow for routing in the background midi between them (using gmem). This works between project tabs. Can be used with ReaLearn and for other purpose as well.

I filed it for ReaPack and hopefully it will appear there, soon.

haven't written here in quite a bit but I'm still using realearn with great success.

So recently it happened to me what is the best way to cover the following scenario:

I have a basic controller preset that I have saved as a reaper preset. This preset leaves a few knobs unused, those knobs are left on purpose to be project dependent. I have configured them in project A and B and C in a certain way inside the same instance of ReaLearn that holds the Basic preset. Now i would like to use a few of those mappings for project D as well, picking from the other three projects. So I would use a function like "add mapping to favorites" or "save mapping" but I don't think such a solution is implemented. On the other hand I guess that maybe there is a smart workaround that i can use to re-insert all the mappings manually inside the 4th project (kinda prone to errors as well).

There's no dedicated feature for that. But you could create an FR.

In the meantime, you can use a workaround: ReaLearn supports copying and pasting single mappings - in a way that saves/loads text from the system clipboard. So you could copy a favorite mapping and save it wherever you want (text editor, snippet tool) and then copy and paste it back into ReaLearn when you need it.

HI

Need some help with Faders and Movements back and forth.

I have 2 Fader Actions for example with Measure forward and Measure backward.

Can't figure out how to move in both directions with the fader or knob.....

What do I have to set that it moves forward when the values of the fader increment and move backwards if teh values decrement?

Have tried all combinations with invertion but no effort!

I have set 2 Actions with the same Fader/Knob, 1 forward, the other backward, but no matter what I set in both Knobs it moves either forward or backward but never in both directions...

If I can get it to work it will be helpful for all other movements, f.e. move theSelection with a Knob or move a Clip left/right/up/down with a knob a.s.o.

REAPER action target needs special attention because each REAPER action is different. I suppose the REAPER actions you are controlling are trigger-like? Then you need to set the invocation mode of the target to "Trigger". Because your REAPER action is trigger-like, you have one action for increasing something and another one for decreasing. Means, you need two mappings, one for each action.

Then, because you have an absolute control element (fader/knob) BUT you want to decide what to do based on the "direction" of the movement (which in its nature is a relative thing), you need to use mode "Make relative" in both mappings.

The last ingredient is to make the action for decreasing ONLY execute if you raise the fader/knob and vice versa. You do that by choosing "Increment only" or "Decrement only".

Regarding my projection issue (multis not updating immediately):
I noticed that when I
- set controller preset to none
- add some virtual multies
- save preset (new name)
- do a new projection layout from scratch

the multies now also update immediately in the projection.
So my guess is that something may be wonky in my controller preset.
Could you maybe take a look if you spot s.th. unusual (I've attached it)?
If not, I think I might go doing that layout from scratch again, which is a bit of (extra) work, but I'd expect it should solve the update issue.

edit:
I assume the projection layout is stored with the controller preset or am I wrong about this?

Does anyone have an example of Track colours on a reaper track being mirrored or polled on a controller which supports LED's??

i know how to change the colours of the LED's on my controller,
however im a little unsure how to implement the Reaper track colour to then mirror it on the controller..

i have seen the target.track.color but unsure how it works??
does it require arguments to make it work?

A screenshot of the configuration would be extremely helpful!!

At the moment, processing colors from REAPER tracks/markers/etc. is only supported for OSC, X-Touch and SiniCon controllers. And Launchpad I think.

If you want, I can make the color value available in the Lua variant of the MIDI script target. Then you can do with it what you want and build the outgoing MIDI message programmatically. See here: https://github.com/helgoboss/realear...oc#midi-script

The other alternative is to hard-code the logic for your controller/LEDs as display type into ReaLearn. What controller do you have?

i have the Maschine Jam... which has various midi modes &feedback on most control elements
MCU v-pot
MCU channel
MCU master
as well as all the other usual midimodes CC/note/PC etc assignable to separate buttons or appropriate control elements

i did see a mackie method on github issue tracker recently... but not too familiar with that protocol and my attempt to decipher how to implement that ..was a bit beyond me
but i will take a look at the link and get back to you!

a simple script would be a great assist to help with colour feedback from Reaper2Controller

ill be utilising the script using dynamic mode.. with only 8 colours visible at any one time!! hopefully that will work

OK, It works with these 3 Settings. I had it set but now I can see I forgot to set both Actions different (Back/Forward) so it always does just 1 action.

Very Fine!

But!! It works only 2-3 times, then it stopps working as long as I press the Keyboard Shortcuts from Back/Forward 1 Measure, then it works again a few times and stopp again!

Perhaps some "Overflow"?

The same with Marker/Region back and forth, have not tried other actions yet but will do!

Tested also with Knobs, same problem!

Post a Lua export, please. Otherwise hard to tell what's wrong. Also, you can investigate on your own by enabling target logging. The latest pre-releases improve the logging.

hi bassman, you could try this custom action...
Custom: CC_MOVE SELECTED ITEM
Action: Skip next action if CC parameter <=0/mid
Item edit: Move items/envelope points right by grid size
Action: Skip next action if CC parameter >0/mid
Item edit: Move items/envelope points left by grid size

just replace the x2 item edit: actions with your intended actions
and then tie it to invoke reaper action in realearn dropdown menu (dont forget to select pick, then select the custom action you created from inside the actions tab)

dont know if it will work with faders... but works with knobs

Don't know how to do target logging so attached the lua file.

I don't have this action:

Action: Skip next action if CC parameter <=0/mid

There are only 2 of them:
Action: Skip next action, set CC parameter to relative +1....but both are doing nothing at all in the custom action.

you could be running an older version of reaper perhaps?

Action: Skip next action if CC parameter <=0/mid
is command id 2015
Action: Skip next action if CC parameter >0/mid
is command id 2014

if you dont have these actions??
is it possible you are running an older version of reaper?

Version 6.67, but I switched to German Language, perhaps that's the cause?

i dont know why you dont have it!!??
it looks to me like they are native reaper command id's
begs the question how many more command id's you dont have in your actions menu

Very first installed Version is 5.8, should I install older versions to have these commands? How can I search/look for an ID?

EDIT: Found it, Most of the Actions are in English, some in German, as soon as I showed the ID I saw all Actions...

Hi

See Upper Post: Found the Actions! They are written in German Language.

But no effort, it works a few seconds and stopped working!

Same with Rotors...

Tried another Preset "DAW Control" and the faders work perfectly all the time! (Volume)
In my Preset I have only 2 Faders for testing Movements.

alot of trying to get things working is trial and error..
with knobs or endless encoders, fiddle around with all the things like,
make absolute/relative/wrap etc
youll figure it out
