Hey there, thank you for listening and commenting, I really appreciate it!
As far as the Bandcamp question:
I used to do street music, and I view the whole "name your price" thing to be akin to laying out my guitar case in front of me while I play. Most of the time, people will download it for free, which is totally fine; I like having my stuff available for free. But I've found that, if given the option to pay (like putting a dollar in the guitar case), every now and then, someone will contribute. Often it's less than $5, but I have had a few generous souls over the past few years throw me 10 or even 20.
I don't really do any promotion besides posting on forums like this one and KvR and handing out business cards when I play shows, so I can't really comment on how effective the pricing method is versus the alternative of having a fixed price. Let's just say I still have to work about 60hrs a week at my "real" jobs to pay the bills, and about once every two or three months I'll randomly find another $5 or so in my PayPal account.
I'm not one for self promotion, and I like giving my music away for free, but I'm not too proud to accept a few "tips" or donations here and there for doing what I love!
