Say I have an item that's very quiet, peaking at -40db. I bring up Item props:

1. If I click "Normalise", "+40db center" is displayed next to the faders. But as soon as I hit Apply or OK, the gain is reset to +24db. Sure, I can use item processing -> normalise instead, but what if I want 35db gain, not 40db?

(annoyances)
2. can only set "take volume" to +24db using the fader. It would be nice to be able to edit the value directly as we can with the pitch, rate values - and be able to type in any gain value. A neat solution to (1) above, let the fader limit to +24 but allow any value. For consistency we should be able to type in the pan (and width) values also.
3. also for consistency other numeric type-in boxes should have the facility for mouse control, so that the wheel / ctrl+wheel etc modify them by the appropriate values without needing to type.
