Default wrong PDC

Hi everyone, hope you all good nd safe.
Recently my reaper has been a bit odd in what regards PDC to external gear. I normally use some external equipment on my submix and it reports 5k PDC, notmal has always, but sometimes when i hit stop and playback again it rises to 120k....resulting in a laggy playback and pitched. I assume is reaper trying to figure out the best internal buffer . I had to close and re-open reaper at least 10 times today because of that.
Im not using nothing fancy in the mix , by this i mean something that i never used before. Is anyone else having this issue ?

Reaper 6.08 64 bits
Windows 10 64 Bits

Motu audio device using 44.1KHz @ 256 buffer size ) i know it might be small buffer size but i use this config for years and only now i started having problems)

Thanks.

PS: i tried changing values on the Audio device /Buffering section to get the most smooth response but no luck.
